Classy young man, and his Mom seems like a great lady too. I hope he can get a lot stronger and be a much bigger contributor.

Jesse needs to get a ton stronger. Those weak spin moves ain’t gonna work against ACC competition. He can’t go up strong yet, or make a bucket when being hacked. Maybe serviceable by his Junior or Senior season IF he doesn’t transfer out and IF we can recruit over him. The way we recruit bigs who the heck knows. Seems like a really nice guy though.

You mean if we can’t recruit over him, I think. But yeah, Jesse’s got some game but he absolutely must get stronger.

He needs to get stronger than he says, IMO. He’s not an explosive guy but a finesse. He was saying that he doesn’t want to put on a lot of weight. He’ll be largely ineffective if so and he won’t really have a position to play.

I know for some guys that weight can effect their mobility, but in his case, if he can't gain more weight and get stronger, he won't have a position out there. He's not fast enough to play the three, and nowhere near strong enough to play the five. MAYBE a stretch four guy, maybe, but I don't see it without putting on at least 25-30 muscle.

Seems like a no brainer but there are cats on the other site who still view him as some of Nowitzki type ready to be unleashed, lol.

Yeah, I think people often get wrapped up in the whole adding weight thing - but it's more about the strength/balance. As long as the defense can keep you off balance, push you a bit to take position away, you're not really going to excel down low. As a 4, I'm not sure I've seen enough to make me think he could do it on a sustained basis. In a pinch, sure, but he still needs strength. A lot of it. How much weight it takes to get to where he can play as a solid 5 is an unknown - but the strength aspect, that has to increase substantially before he's going to really be productive as a 5. That being said, even adding a little strength likely allows him to contribute next year. To what extent is a hard to predict, but he some some nice tools to work with.

Good kid, and has some skill. Needs to get a TON stronger to be anything more than a bench player.

Edwards really has had an impact the latter part of the year - he's big enough to give people problems.
Also had a nice finish tonight w/ a move in the lane. Well done, we need the depth, and he's giving us enough to allow Marek to rest or move over to the four.
