There really is not an acceptable reason why we cannot land a better/more college ready center than JBA. Chewy is graduating and Sidibe is terrible. We are Syracuse for God's sake. And the best we can land is a #400+ recruit at center with immediate playing time available?
I don't mean that to knock JBA at all. He projects nicely as a 4 year guy. I'm very concerned that he's going to be forced to start next year. Marek at the 5 is a joke. So unless JB is abandoning the 2-3 which requires a shot blocker, what on earth is the plan???
I love JB and Syracuse basketball, and questioning this issue doesn't negate that. It was a problem last season that we did not address, it's a problem this season, and thus far we have no solution next season either. That's unacceptable.

Maybe it's not G-town and a battle between these two. All I can figure out at this point is SU is out -

We simply cannot lose a must have recruit like Wahab to Pitt, Georgetown, Va Tech or UCONN. Not when our center position is bordering on desperate. It's pathetic the way we recruit big men these days.
Our approach with bigs needs to change in many ways. We need to offer more big men in the recruiting cycle. We need a real big man coach. We need to utilize the big man offensively. Chewy can't even dunk. We still run the dumb PnR with a center that can't roll or score off of it.
If I was an elite big, I wouldn't choose SU either, unless we show some commitment to change.

I get this question every week, now I’ll answer it like I do every week lol. So as Stockrisers reported earlier last week Qudus Wahab will announce his college decision this Thursday. His final five includes Pittsburgh, Georgetown, UConn, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech. Currently, no team is considered a “lean,” it also happens that multiple teams in his final list will be in to see him this week.
Pittsburgh’s Jeff Capel and two assistants were on hand this Friday for Wahab. A few seats down from Capel sat Virginia Tech’s Buzz Williams and Christian Webster. Fast forward to decision week and so far UConn is slated to be in on Monday. The other team’s in his final five are slated to be in at some point this week but no dates are set.

H2P @pittfan34 Does Qudus Wahab have any lean? Potential leader before Thursday’s commitment? Would love for Pitt to land his talents
7:27 AM - Dec 10, 2018 Twitter Ads info and privacy See H2P's other Tweets Twitter Ads info and privacy Qudus Wahab broke down his final list of schools yesterday and his commitment is set for Thursday. The Rivals150 center is focused on a group of five that consists of Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, UConn and Virginia Tech. While we do know that he will end up with one of those five programs, what we don’t know is just where he may be leaning as Wahab has kept things super close to vest.
While there has never been a clear-cut favorite in his recruitment, if I was pushed to predict where he will land, though, I would give Pitt the nod.
The Panthers have a great need for someone like Wahab, and few programs have invested as much time and attention in recruiting the big man. Jeff Capel was in to see him on Thursday, though so was Virginia Tech’s Buzz Williams, and Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing and an assistant from Syracuse evaluated the Rivals150 prospect earlier in the week. This all goes to show you that all of his finalists still believe they have a shot with him as things head down the final stretch.
Georgetown and Virginia Tech have garnered some of the talk, but I think Wahab ends up in Oakland. Am I super confident with that prediction? No, but if it does hold true, the Panthers will be filling their primary need with their primary target.

We totally botched the Center position recruiting for the last several seasons now.

Agreed, very disappointing with recruiting a center in this class. No way we should have gotten shut out. Hate to say this but two things are hurting us, Hop not being any longer and also the fact that a lot of people know that JB doesn't use the Center enough on offense and just mainly needs someone in the zone.

Is this a change of heart or just a delay? Man I wish we still had a chance with him.

No. It sounds like he's not totally sure what school he really wants to go to and SU isn't one of them. Also SU is out too, have you seen any mention of any assistants visiting him in the last week or seeing that JB is going to see the kid personally .
