Yep I like him. Wish he was a little quicker on D but agree he's got some O.

I really wish KR stayed and was our starting PG as well. We are instantly a pre season top 20 team in that case.
With that being said, he did play 20-25 min as a freshman and im sure that would of been 25-30 this year. I understand it is 2021 and these kids require more attention and even promises, but if it was an ultimatum of "start me or I leave" then good riddance. Again, I am in no way, shape, or form a fan of JG3 at the 1. All last year I begged for him to be a 15 mpg guy who can come in and hunt his shot to get hot.
Yes if Kadary started towards the middle/tail end of last year that could of made the difference in him staying (no way of knowing). But I do not believe JB told him that Joe was starting this off season. By all accounts it was the better player will. Hopefully Quadir next year will be able to take the mantle from day 1.

Joe’s his Golden boy and he goes out of his way to defend him in pressers. How the hell is Copeland going to unseat him lol?! He won’t. I’ve actually never disliked Joe. Just think he would be better served as a gunner off the bench. I don’t however like Joe even in these exhibitions turning his back/backing down these guards in the frontcourt. That’s a bad look and it discombobulates things. A P5 caliber PG shouldn’t be needing to do this. Symir has better quickness than I thought but teams will sag off him because he can’t shoot. He may quite possibly have the ugliest shot I’ve ever seen in Orange for a guard. We’ll see what happens against better competition. If we can get by people off the bounce and if Cole/Jimmy back there in the damn Zone will get burned. Rebounding too seems to be an issue. The team looks for each other and will beat some squads they probably shouldn’t due to unconscious shooting. Swider has a real nice stroke. Confident. It’s funny how JB lamented in the last presser how thin they are at the guard position. Many of us were begging for another guard (not counting Paddy since this is a last sec desperation maneuver) to be brought in this fall! I could see anywhere between a 7 type seed or NIT. Not good enough for this stature of program.

When you cater to your starters and only play one other guard off the bench, kids see that and aren't going to want to come here. Then the debacle with KR clearly outplaying JG last year but Mr. Stubborn refusing to make a change mid-year or during off season just goes to show how he plays favorites at times. Like 2016 says with his initial post, imagine this team with KR at PG. I agree and also if we QG stayed and didn't have JB Jr. but everybody in their brother knew that he was coming to SU this season.

Not sure I see how Joe is his golden boy lol. Yes hes not going to trash him in pressers (he generally protects guards/shooters more than others). In regards to making a change in the off season, what change did you want? Promising KR a starting spot? By all accounts he said the best player will start and play. AKA KR had a ticket to probably 27-30 a game. Again I do think he has fumbled the situation on some level but I do not think a coach becomes a HOF by promising starting positions every off season.
My hope for 2022-23 is that of course JG wont be relegated to the bench, but QC can start at the 1 Joe can move over and be more comfortable at a 2 guard.
In terms of rebounding I am going to reserve judgement because I think having a true 7 foot center in there should help. Were bigger down low (JB jr and Cole are big strong dudes), but certainly less athletic.
I can see them being a team that is always going to play to their competition. Not the ceiling and athleticism to really blow anyone out, even the early games. But ideally experienced and enough shooting to hang in with elite competition. We will see in Atlantis and at the garden. VS IU as well.

We will see in Atlantis and at the garden. VS IU as well. We‘ll see. I think JB absolutely plays favorites and that Joe is his golden boy. Nobody is saying to trash the kid but he goes out of his way to deflect blame from him. We saw time and time him giving up dribble penetration, not having a hand up, getting stripped, the unnecessary heat checks, etc. We would often get buried in games early then Kadary would come in and steady the ship. Hell, he saved us in the WVU game at the end. I don’t blame Kadary for leaving. Apparently he destroyed Joe in practice regularly. Just don’t understand how strategically having Kadary start with Joe coming off the bench as a gunner hunting his shot wouldn’t be the way to go. Mind boggling. We‘ll have to see how the back line and Jesse progresses. Swider plays the game like a G and not a F. Wish Jesse came back stronger. I think he’s improved his game but he’s still pretty weak. He was bumped a few times and fell to the floor a few times in these two games. That lower base of his still gets dislodged easy. I think he will be a decent rim protector though which is huge. Haven’t had that since late in Chukwu‘s career…he was abused regularly most of his career despite the height. Height isn’t everything. It’s a very odd team. Reminds me of a less athletic ND team like 5-7 years ago but with even better shooting potentially. We‘ll have to see. Lafayette actually should be a decent test. They have some size.

I couldnt agree more on having Kadary start and Joe being the gunner off the bench. My point is that if JB told Kadary the best player will start and play, what more could he of done? I do not think it is an ideal way to run a program making promises.
My hope is that a rim protector like Jesse will help the dribble pentation as a deterrent as well.

It’s never been really fixed. JB did go public after we flamed out against Dayton saying Ennis/Cooney played too many minutes. Of course, we had a bunch of busts too. Carey, Goodine, Ron Patterson, Kaleb Joseph, etc. The transfer from South Florida stunk too. They tried HARD to land Quade Green because I believe they were scared to death of Frank Howard’s game. That ship sailed and we were stuck with Howard Washington who wasn’t really a P5 caliber guard. The following year they brought in Gillon but JB waited too long to make the switch from Frank. It just hasn’t been working out.

I understand if JB may have said that. However, I think Kadary knew and we all know who the better player is. By a landslide and I don’t dislike Joe. He has a role. I bet it was perplexing to Kadary that it came to that possible rationale/verdict and I don‘t blame him for leaving. This team with Kadary slicing through the teeth of the D and finding shooters would be real good. I wasn’t even the biggest Kadary fan last season but it’s such a wide gap between the two that in his eyes I don’t blame him if he had enough of JB. Yeah, Jesse can hopefully help with that like you say.
