Played well. Nice W. Hopefully can keep this run going. There is little doubt when we are shooting the ball well we are tough to beat. The defense is still very bad though. The schedule is light but I am sure other teams view us the same way and rightfully so. I will say Benny has been disappointing. Obviously his minutes are light but even in the limited action I do not think it is too much to ask to see anything from. Hes certainly talented so I do hope he sticks around and can take a major leap. He’s an odd player. I don’t even think he’s that great of an athlete. Really long strider and not a lot of quickness/suddenness. He looks better athletically than what he is IMO when you compare him to Cole and Jimmy who are underwhelming. Maybe it all could be due to the game being still too fast for him and uncertainty out there. It’s fair to ponder if he will even come close to what he is capable of. Skills look subpar and he’s lost. I think he‘ll probably bolt unless we somehow catch fire and win the majority of the remaining games including Duke and go deep into the ACCT. Possible but highly unlikely. If we end up somewhere around 16-14 and lose early in the ACCT (the most likely scenario) then it will be a really interesting offseason.

Not sure I agree that team success would play a role in him returning. Does not seem to be a theme with transfers. My thought is that it is fully on his relationship with JB and if he is soured by it.
I do like the kid and his potential ceiling. But the notion that he should be playing 20 plus minutes a game like we all yelled for (me included) 3 weeks ago I think was wrong and misguided. And yes that is also a testament to how poor the roster is built and the talent level that one slowly developing freshman means 35 mpg for Jimmy and Cole.

I agree it ultimately hinges on his relationship with JB. Positive momentum end of season I think could be helpful. At this time last season, Braswell (never was sold on him fyi) and Quincy knew Jimmy and Benny were coming. Possible rumblings of Cole too. Benny would be locked into major minutes next season. Regardless, he’s unplayable. It’s too bad and a serious indictment of the staff‘s continued subpar evaluation if he continues to struggle. Since 2017 the highest rated recruits have been Moyer, Jalen Carey, Goodine, and now Benny. Three of them have been busts. Just can’t expect to do well with those misses.

Jimmy yes always and Braswell I am sure wanted to try and go somewhere and start. Woody probably knew he would be buried too.
Quincy we for sure wanted back. JB even mentioned that before and in his presser after Houston I remember him saying how Quincy could be an all American here. Basically his opening pitch of please come back.
Agreed on the top 50/75 kids. Not that we have tons in last 4-5 years but there have been some major misses. Granted there have also been good finds in the portal or lower ranked guys (Jesse, Oshae, Marek, Hughes). But yes if we want to not be a perennial bubble team and be a top 25 team cannot keep having misses like Kaleb, Moyer, Carey, Goodine, etc.
