The zone was decent for the most part I thought. We are just too solely reliant on shooting from outside (for obvious reasons) that we cannot go on any real winning streak because you are always gonna have some of those nights where nothing falls and you need to find a way to win.
I did not realize the Ft discrepancy was as severe as it was but I did not think the officiating was so egregious. You can always set your clock to JB yelling at a ref after a Buddy miss or TO.

The 100% zone mentality is what drives me crazy. The guy is so out of touch w reality w this 1 defense crap. Great he switches to the 1-3-1 1% of the time. I'm just ready for change.

I do not mind it as much because when we recruit to it is a real weapon and normally we are legit on D because of it. Also helps cover up some warts.
But I do not understand wanting it this year. You want this team with this group of athletes to play pressure man on man? We would see even more open looks for opponents.

I'm not even saying it with respect to this team or specifically to this team. I am talking about being so stubborn and bone-headed that you're pigeon-holing yourself into using only one tool when you have other options. That mindset never works in life. He got lucky in 2003, but catching teams off guard 6 games in a row in 45+ years rightfully happened only once.
I'll give you an example. The Dayton NCAA tourney game a few years back, the SU team with Tyler Ennis. I was there in Buffalo. There was under a minute left and Dayton had like 8 seconds left on the shot clock coming out of a time out, they desperately needed a 3. What does Boeheim do? Zone instead of man-to-man for those measly 8 seconds. They hit a wide open three and won because of it. Had he gone man-to-man, game over. Shooters would have been guarded.
The 100% zone mentality is horrible and I am sick of it.
You also made a point that this team would be terrible in man defense. I agree, but lol 😆 look at all the teams and athletes he's had and he's never meaningfully gone man in 45+ fkn years. Crazy 🤪!

I agree, but lol 😆 look at all the teams and athletes he's had and he's never meaningfully gone man in 45+ fkn years. Crazy 🤪! At this point in his life we will never see m2m again. I think he’s too thin-skinned to the point that he believes it would be contradicting his own principles. He would need to answer questions about it and, if it worked, even more questions. He’s just not seeing the game clearly. Or maybe he is and it is just straight up lies and spin in pressers sometimes. I don’t think the Zone was very good at all against VT. Who cares if they shot below their avg from 3? It’s not because of us. They moved the ball and had great looks all game. When they didn’t need to shoot threes they hit the guy in the paint who was able to get 2 on 1s so they got easy buckets at the rim. I just am disappointed we play so much ISO ball with Buddy/Joe/Jimmy. He or certain parts of the fanbase can defend it all they want with our pretty good Off Efficiency numbers but I don’t buy it. We’re toast against any good defensive team with athletes. It stagnates the possessions so much watching these guys dribble, put their heads down, dribble behind their backs, and miss/make contested shots. It’s lazy offense. Yes the defense is the main culprit this year and last due to personnel and lack of athleticism but the offense has been broken for awhile.
