I understand why it’s a big deal, but who honestly gives a shit if your 15-16 or 17-16? What exactly is to be proud of being that close to .500?

Feel like it's something the old people are holding on to as their only positive as they keep the blinders on. It doesn't even really exist according to the record books. But sanctions only exist for those folks as a way to explain 2014-2019.

Streaks of any sort are sort of cool I guess.
I suppose if I could have a gigantic winning streak or not, I'd take the former. That being said, JB more than earned a losing record this year so I don't care.

What speaks volumes to me is just how we get crushed in these big non-conf games. Many were in NYC. Over the past 4-5 years…Iowa, Penn St, Oregon, Oklahoma St, Wisconsin, Auburn, VCU, Villanova, etc. The last two were close for awhile but most of these we were dominated.
So…FFwd to next season. If indeed the old man intends to play 2 or 3 of these freshmen. What are we going to be hearing in pressers early on like when we go to NYC? “They aren’t ready yet.” They need to learn what we do here.”
I think in order to be competitive we need a big improvement from Bennie (assuming he stays) Mintz to commit and be a factor, and to hit on a portal Forward. If not then it will be real ugly, IMO.

we really haven't been competitive in a bit
buddy had a great performance in the tourney last year but we also had fairly good matchups
hopefully we can land a stud in the transfer portal, move joe to the sg, and see some development from frank and benny and jesse continues to impress

Mintz can really alter the trajectory of next year I'd think from another .500 season or a bubble tourney team. Still a far cry from what we have come to expect. Unless someone like Brown, Taylor, or Bunch are much further along than we expect.
Will be refreshing to see some actually length and athletes on the floor though. Not flailing arms of kids who look like they are playing in quick sand. In a perfect world (which I am not anticipating) I actually think a line up of
1. Mintz 2. Joe 3. Benny 4. Impact transfer 5. Jesse
With Bunch, Brown, Taylor, Symir, Frank, and Copeland coming off the bench can be an interesting squad.

Think the issue I have is that I have minimal hope that starter 4 is going to come to be. Hoping that Cole article from today ends up being good news and he stays and handles that spot. I don't think we can do better and I definitely don't think any of the Freshman are capable of being a solid 3/4 especially when Benny may offer no shooting ability at the other forward spot.

Cole is coming back now?! Boeheim has no pulse on his own team lol.

Don't think anything is for sure but seems to still be a possibility rather than a definite no.

Would probably prefer an impact grad transfer, but who is to say we land that. I would not mind Cole back if that is not an option on the portal and back line of him, benny, and jesse. Certainly helps on offense and hes much better athletically and on the boards than Jimmy I think.

You start stacking these slow unathletic people though and the zone falls apart. I'd take him back I guess. I wouldn't want to have him and Joe on the court though - and they would be. That being said, I doubt it even matters, we're going to suck next year.

Does he just show up on gameday to coach and otherwise just watch his kid's practice with a bucket of popcorn in his lap?

Does he just show up on gameday to coach and otherwise just watch his kid's practice with a bucket of popcorn in his lap? I feel bad for the assistants. Apparently he does watch a lot of practice from upstairs. But, this makes the assistants accountable as well as a hand in the decline. The fundamentals, concepts, player development (for the most part) has been subpar for years now. I think he knows he needs scoring bad next season and is pitching for Cole to come back. Cole will be 23 in May I believe. We‘ll see. He also said that he “thinks” Benny will be back. That’s telling. He doesn’t know for sure and I’m not sold on Benny’s public comments. What’s the kid gonna say? This whole thing is a mess.

Cold coming back would be a big add, but at 23 I'm not sure why hebwould. He's 23? Did he transfer twice or something?
