The fact he knows about the former greatness of SU and he wants to bring it back is better than the last 4 coaches. And that he called Paul P for his blessing

He says he wants to be here for life. For 10+ years. “My word is all I have. All these other coaches saying that man I come from welfare. I’m good.”

He nailed it. Absolutely nailed it. He’s real. He’s going to win here. I believe in him. He’s likeable, authentic, and I can feel his passion. We got ourselves a winner. Let’s Go Orange! 🍊

We all remember what Marrone said. from what people on the evil site were saying he wants to stop coaching when his kids become teens . So it’s not unlikely he stays about 10 years and retires to care for them a millionaire

Let’s Go Orange! 🍊 I gotta say, I loved all the name dropping (for lack of better term) of ex-Orange. It shows that as a football guy from the NE that’s old enough to remember some of the glory days, he’s well aware of what this program was and is. And to me it shows a level of humbleness and respect to talk about DeLeone, Coach P, etc. I’m all in on believing that he’s going to restore us to a level program that Jersey and New England kids want to go to. Seems a lot of those 90s rosters were Jersey, New England, and Florida kids.

There’s more competition for those players now, especially in-state. Plenty of talent to go around, though.

Yeah, not expecting a pipeline in Florida but there’s so much talent there that if we have any kind of connection that gets us a few of them it could be big. But would love to see us out recruit every NE school except PSU.(being realistic) We crack the top 30 in recruiting and I’m losing my mind. Also, PSU is weird and in the middle of nowhere. I would never dream of going there if I was a stud recruit. Wouldn’t even crack my top 100 schools I’d be interested in.

Brown is winning the week, no question. It sounds like we can count on him sticking around for the next decade or so, which is a pleasant surprise. (And one I’m taking with a grain of salt, given how things played out with Marrone.)
Here are my two biggest observations:
1. Maybe becoming a coordinator isn’t always the best stepping stone to head coaching. Brown’s leadership style isn’t about getting into the weeds. He wants to build relationships and character. He’s relying on Robinson and the OC as the subject matter experts. As long as Brown is capable of making the right in-game decisions, he already has the tools he needs to be a successful head coach. A coordinator position would have been a waste of time for him, if not a roadblock. I’ll buy it.
2. He loves recruiting and intends to continue recruiting. I think that’s great…unless it becomes a crutch. He still needs to grow as a leader and expand his overall knowledge. Will his commitment to recruiting get in the way? Gregg Popovich wasn’t a HOF head coach when he took over that position with the Spurs. (His experience was as a GM and he fired a pretty good coach in Bob Hill.) In the early going, he surrounded himself with great basketball minds and learned from them. So I’m wondering how much Brown is willing and able to learn on the job.
