Is he going to pull a Tubby Smith 2.0 and leave Kentucky for another P5 job before he gets fired?
This would be crazy.
Would Kentucky get Oats? If not Oats I have no clue if they could get Hurley.

Thats a lot of money to leave on the table. Arkansas has Walmart money. Money isn’t why he would stay. He would leave because he is sick of the fanbase and Arkansas will give enough money to make him able to retire in place with more grateful fans.

I am not shocked he is leaving as that fanbase really bad to make his life miserable. Calipari in 15 years at Kentucky 4 final fours and 1 NC. If he did at that Syracuse he would be a god. Kentucky ran him out.
Kentucky is going to get Nate Oats. Hurley isn’t leaving UConn for Kentucky.

Total barf… I’ve always been a secondary Arkansas fan. I cannot be a fan of a Calipari coached team.

Rick Pitino would be a funny hire.
I hope they go for Nate Oats and Alabama backs up a brinks truck to keep him just so UK has to deal with going for their #2 choice.
Billy Donovan?
The CBS article also mentioned Scott Drew. Seems like a good place for that douche.

At the time, that was the best job he can get. Now he can get an even better one. Sure, he’s built a monster there, but I’m guessing his ego is enormous and he thinks he’ll do the same thing at Kentucky. Money talks. We’ll see what happens, but it’s not like he’s an alum or has been at UConn for decades and would never leave.

Scott Drew would be my second choice if I was them. Oats is a distant 3rd. Of course UK fans are as dumb as Syracuse fans and think they can get Jay Wright.

Hurley isn’t going to leave UConn for Kentucky. With 2 NCs he can do whatever he wants and not have feel pressure again for his coaching career.
I agree with Drew. If it’s Scott Drew to Kentucky then Tang gets Baylor and K-State is SOL.
If it’s Nate Oats then Alabama is done unless they got Wade.
Calipari apparently wanted the Ohio State job but they went internal.
Calipari losing to a 15 and 14 seeds the last 3 years did him in. He can just do what Musselman did at Arkansas and the fanbase won’t go Kentucky on him.
Kentucky’s last 2 coaches have left for Minnesota and Arkansas because of their fans and not enough postseason success.

Im picturing season 5 egomaniac, unhinged Walter White, “I’m in the empire business!” while Jesse looks at him like he’s insane.

Selfishly I hope Hurley goes to UK because it’s better for us if he does. It puts UCONN back in their proper place in the Northeast, behind us… 😜
That said Hurley strikes me as a big ego guy… he’d welcome the bright lights of Kentucky I bet.
