So, I’m curious what you guys think here. Are most/all of these players overrated then? Would they be thriving in other systems? Bench players? Lower tier players?
Pretty sure we were the only school to offer Frank as a PG though he had decent SG offers from I believe Georgetown, Ohio State, Maryland, etc. I see a backup SG on another similar team/brand as us.
Doubt the Centers would be doing much elsewhere.
Dolezaj is a role/bench player. Scrapper. Not a starter on any serious type of team.
Oshae I could see as an option 2 or 3 on a good team. Probably Battle too. How would he have fared at Michigan in that system? Probably well but it’s totally not based on ISO there.
Carey I have hopes for but he was horrendous yesterday. He totally reminds me of a UConn/Cincinnati type guard.
To me we just don’t have that talented a team at all. Not a whole lot Boeheim can do, frankly. But, these are his recruits.

Agree about the centers. Still not giving up on Sidibe as he's coming from injury last year.
I think Dolezaj is a decent player, my thing with him is how come him and the centers never bulked up. We have strength coach's for football maybe they should work with our b-ball playerd.
Agree about OB, not sure why he's regressed. Think Battle would fit in well at UM.
Carey is 2 that JB is trying to make a PG, tough transition when you never were one in HS ala Frank.
JB recruits for the stupid zone and thus the problem we are in plus the lack of a quality center and PG like you mentioned in another post.

I think Oshae and Tyus could start and play well on most other P5 schools. The lack of surrounding talent hurts their games. Oshae should be finishing stronger and playing through contact better, and has regressed. That's on coaching.
Dolejaz is a cerebral player but doesn't have the physicality or athleticism to compete at this level. I admire his work ethic, and his basketball IQ, but he IMO would likely never see the court on most D1 schools.
Chewy also would not play on any other good D1 team. Sidibe has some athleticism, but he's not even gotten any stronger, which can be accomplished with an injury in the weight room. He certainly isn't a future NBA player as was touted on the other board.
Hughes is, as I shared yesterday, better than I expected, but still an average D1 guard.
Frank is an average 2 guard being forced to play point guard. Carey appears will have a similar fate. The other guards coming in, while they have talent, don't solve this issue either. JG3 is a shooter, not a point guard. Goodine has yet to demonstrate point guard skills, though I do like his athleticism.
Quincy will be the stud of the incoming class. JBA also shows promise but I think it's going to take some time for him to be ready.
So to answer your question, I think the talent outside of a few of our guys, is low. Maybe the lowest it's been in 20-30 years...
And that's the problem. JB ain't getting younger. Recruiting isn't going to get better. Sadly, we're not going anywhere as a program until he moves on. We could be looking at a decade before this ship gets righted unless Wildhack makes a very unpopular and hard decision.

Yeah I agree with a lot of this. We could get by if the players were all quicker and more athletic and sort of bully people. But, they aren’t and don’t have the necessary fundamentals either. ODU looked more athletic at almost all positions.

ODU looked more athletic at almost all positions. Absolutely, we get outplayed by more physical teams. Our long lanky guys can hold their own against finesse teams. They get manhandled by physical teams. And, yes, ODU had more athleticism... It's sad.
