He's got some game, but damn he's another beanpole. Not the answer.

we don't really have any other options at this point. can't be worse than sidibe I agree we don't have too many options left. What bothers me is that we absolutely shouldn't be in this position. Two project centers doesn't thrill me. It absolutely amazes me that the folks on the other board actually expected Sidibe to contribute this year AND be good. I said he wasn't that good, had proven nothing, and I also stated I didn't think he'd be healthy. I got flamed for it. Well, guess who was right!

If he turns out like Marek, but get stronger eventually (I know don't laugh), then he'll be a nice get.

If he turns out like Marek, but get stronger eventually (I know don't laugh), then he'll be a nice get. No disrespect meant at all, but what is your optimism based on? The dude has zero offers besides us. He may be from the Netherlands, but he played at IMG for the last couple of months, yet Syracuse is his only offer? Don't misunderstand me, I'd love to be wrong and have him be a stud. But this just reeks of sales pitching/desperation by the staff. We have NO excuses for not landing an elite center with starters minutes available, and yet here we are offering a near 7 foot beanpole that no one else has offered. After the last few bigs (Chewy and Sidibe) forgive me for being skeptical of the staff. Funny thing is that if we land him, I'm sure the staff will claim he "would've been rated in the top 100" if he played in the States for his full high school career. Yada yada yada...

No way he is 215. A previous listing had him at 188-190. Adding 10 lbs would put him around 200 which seems about right to me. He has some natural skill for sure but he seems pretty slow without much lift. He does look pretty smooth but...
We just canβt afford to stash these projects and wait if weβre expecting to challenge for ACC titles. These beanpoles just get rooted out of position down low as well against some of these bigger 6β9 or 6β10 PF/C types that everybody but us seems able to get!

It speaks volumes about the state of our recruiting that this is what it's come down to. No disrespect to anyone... I'm sure this is a nice hardworking kid. I'm sure the staff is doing their best too. But, there are factors not within our control... money, corruption, JB 's age, etc. The fact is that our staff might be working ten times as hard as other schools, and still not get the recruiting job done. It's not a criticism of the staff's ability to scout, or coach. It is what it is. For whatever reason the NCAA allows certain teams to cheat and cracks down on others. That's not fair but it's IMO the truth. So how does it get fixed? Clean house. Bring in staff that the NCAA doesn't dislike so much. Because we're NEVER competing for a championship again without a point guard, a decent big, and a top 15 recruiting class on a regular basis... that hasn't happened in years. So back to Jesse... bring him in... but he's not going to bring us to the promised land. He'll be a hardworking guy who plays like Marek. He'll keep us competitive, and we'll continue to be a middle of the pack ACC bubble team. I want more...

IMG has better facilities than any other hs program in the nation. If he could get up to 225-230 he could play right away.

And if we get some breaks wrt seeding/upets could make a deep run again this year.

Love your enthusiasm Walsh, I really do. It's admirable. But IMO we're not good enough to make a run this year. We had no business making the Sweet Sixteen last year. Izzo coached his worst game ever in that game. My God, Bayer played point guard for the last five minutes of the game, and they never pressed, and never took the ball out of Tyus and OB's hands. We only had two guys on the court that could score, and managed to win.
Anyhow, like I said, your positive mindset is refreshing. I really wish I could see the potential that you do. But there's something different about this year's team... this one seems checked out. They seem complacent. They aren't playing hungry. They're bickering. Last year's team had a totally different flavor. They seemed to embrace the underdog label. They played hungry. I just don't see the same focus, intensity or confidence. Wish I could write differently.

Your attitude would suck to playing in this lousy designed offense and not having a PG that get things done on the offensive side. Can you imagine if we had UNC's PG (White), that kid can play and more than likely he'll be gone next year and guess who'll they are probably going to get then...Cole Anthony. Another great PG that would kill to have at SU.
