Completely understand why the morale is low. Look at Tyus... I sincerely doubt that Tyus is playing with the caliber of teammates he expected to play with when he signed his LOI. Frank is terrible, Chewy is awful, Sidibe is not looking too promising, Oshae has regressed. Marek tries, but my God he's outmuscled every game. Hughes would be great for ECU... here he is an average D1 player with a nice stroke that can't drive or dribble well against ball pressure.
That said, Jesse Edwards, might be a nice player for a mid major. He's not the elite big we're looking for. He's hardly a morale booster.

Elijah Thomas was holding off our guys with one arm and grabbing off rebounds with the other arm/hand thatβs how weak our rebounding is down there. Unreal. Tyus was PISSED at one of those bad Oshae 3s. Oshae played pretty well. Had a couple of sweet interior passes. Anyways, Clemson was starting to pull away but still within striking distance. Oshae could have swung it to Tyus wide open in the corner but he forced and bricked a 3. This was right before that Tyus meltdown in that TO.

Exactly... we don't even have the chemistry that we had last year. Tyus has every right to be upset. He expected more. So do I. We are IMO a bad team hiding behind what used to be a great zone defense. We'd get obliterated if we tried to match up man to man against good P5 schools. We're weak and as you point out we get pushed off the block with ease. Jesse Edwards doesn't solve that problem at 6'10" and 200 pounds. He's not bringing us back to the glory days.

Right now I would say he's coming here, but that is IMHO.

Whoopee!!! Another unheralded beanpole (that no one has offered but us) is coming for a visit. LMAO. I've done nothing but watch college basketball all day today, and nearly everyone has better bigs than we do. Jesse Edwards is not fixing shit.

Jesse Edwards is not fixing shit. Signing Edwards doesnt mean we cant also make a run at a post grad center. We need more beef, no question. We also need bigs who can pass the ball and not have it end possessions when they touch the ball. Our offense is going to need to use passing to get shooters open looks. Iβll sub some defensive liability for guys that can keep thw ball zipping around, but we will need a beefy, rebounding defender big

Because he's certainly not. The problem is that I'm so sick and tired of being this far into the recruiting cycle and looking at the scrap heaps. For the love of God, we shouldn't have to be looking at the Jesse's and the grad transfers. It takes most bigs over a year to learn our zone so a grad transfer isn't saving us. It's bullshit that we can't land a guy like Tre, Qudus, Isaiah, etc. I've been saying this for forever on the other board. We can't recruit centers worth shit, anymore. I'm not drinking the Koolaid. Even if you want to argue he's a four in our system, he still doesn't bring the strength and athleticism needed to compete in the ACC. They should be glad they banned me because I'd be ripping them to shreds right now for their piss poor roster management. Jesse Edwards and a grad transfer... LMAO. We are really bad off if that's the best we can do, and I pity the folks that can't see it. We will be a low/middle of the pack ACC team at best, fighting for the bubble until JB leaves. Book it.

All the stagnation by now seems to be condoned and allowed. It happens so much that they must practice that way. The ISO. Dribbling the ball in one place then deciding to take your man off the dribble. They let the defense get set and donβt reverse the ball much, certainly not crisply. Iβd love to see us zip the ball around like Belmont, Wofford, UNC, LSU (oh hi Tremont Waters!) but we donβt. We run a dribble-drive/ISO offense. I forgot what team it was yesterday but in a crucial juncture mid-2H a sidline reporter chimed in with what the coach said in the TO. He said if you hold the ball you will get taken out of the game. If you donβt move the ball youβll be on the bench. Might have been Texas Tech as NKU was hanging around too long. JB would probably roll his eyes at that coach.

For what it's worth Jesse's brother Kai plays for Northern Colorado of the Big Sky conference. He is 6'9" and listed at 225. As a junior this season he is a role player coming off the bench and averaged about 20 mpg, 5.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 0.7 apg.
In an interview I found online, this is what Kai has to say about brother Jesse:
"He has really gotten so much better over the last few years. Me and my older brother Rens used to be able to beat him fairly easily on the playground. But now he has out grown both of us and is a real problem on the court. Back in the day their of course was the normal brotherly rivalry, but now itβs all love and I hope he achieves the very best! He is crazy talented and is becoming a really good player."
My take is, this offer seems to be a reach, and an act of desperation. Brother Kai isn't even a starter as a junior (if they have comparable talent). In regards to Jesse, the film that's available shows him playing against guys that appear to be six to twelve inches shorter. It's not that hard to look good on tape when the competition is that much shorter.
I can't even find anything online about Ga Tech's interest, other than 247 stating he's visiting them, and on the Syracuse sites. I can't find anything on Ga Tech sites. They seem to be prioritizing other guys.
We'll see how this plays out, but I'm not seeing a whole lot to be excited about, and I'm really trying to find something to like.

Piggybacking off my last post. I can't even find any connection between Jesse and any of the other mentioned schools of interest, with the exception of what's listed on 247 and Syracuse sites. If you google search "Jesse Edwards" and Syracuse you get several articles. If you search "Jesse Edwards" and Georgia Tech you get zip (except links to the Syracuse articles). Pretty odd for a kid who's supposed to be visiting Ga Tech today. Same thing if you type Creighton, Providence, or Stanford, the other schools that are "allegedly" interested. This kid is committing here, IMHO, book it. There is no other legitimate interest. Sad..... REALLY sad.

When Jesse commits to Syracuse, we need to send Marek and Jesse (our Twin Twigs) to Twin Trees for 10 pizzas a day to put some weight on these boys. LMAO. πππ

Jeff (the man who runs this site) had an article about low post scoring, had his thoughts on Edwards along with JBA.

I agree with a lot of what's written in this article about the trend of today's game. I agree we don't we need a traditional back to the basket big man. What we need is a guy who can pass, catch and shoot, that is also STRONG, so he can rebound, and not get man handled by the likes of the forwards and centers we watched all weekend in the tournament. Every team had better bigs than we did, and I don't mean traditional bigs.
We need a Draymond Green type. Marek has IQ, can pass, and is a hard worker. He is not a particularly good shooter, and he cannot bang on the boards or defend the interior very well (though he sure does try).
Jesse, IMO appears to be very similar to Marek, and both have an undeniable skill set. I might buy into Jesse and Marek as bigs IF they had about 30-40 more pounds of muscle. Our strength and conditioning/player development has been a joke in the last few years, so I'm not holding out much hope. No disrespect, but Jesse and Marek as stretch fives doesn't excite me at all. JBA MIGHT have what it takes. I sure hope so or we're in big trouble.
In addition, JB has shown no ability to coach offense in a long time. These type of players only contribute when there is ball movement. We haven't done anything but ISO ball in years. The article also makes mention of Bagley and Ayton as non traditional bigs. Our Twin Twigs (Marek and Jesse) would have zero chance defending either of those guys in college.
