-ballhandlers who directly attack the paint by beating their man 1v1 early in the half court. Guys who can double as playmakers by attacking, getting the D to collapse amd creatinng room for: (Ennis, Triche, Gbinije, Waiters, MCW)
-dead eye shooters that are able to create space by 1) rubbing the shoulders of bjg guys while being ready to catch and shoot off screens 2) having tight handles and using them to work themselves open 3) being such a threat to shoot that they draw extra defenders to the ball while being smart enough to know a man will be open and zipping the ball to them (Devo, Rautins, Richardson, Cooney, Southerland)
-elite, highlight level athletes who can leap to the highest point for two handed rebounds while also being able to get the first, quick step in transition and posterize a punk (CJ FAIR, Waiters, Grant, Joseph)
-a big than can do either of: being a lengthy rim protector/being a thick intimidating presence. Either type needs to be able to alter gaurds shots/get a hand in the face of bigs at the ACC logo and move between the logo and the low block. While also being able to catch the ball/keep it high/ pass it quickly/be assertive in the post (RAK/FAB/AO)
-ROLE PLAYERS OFF THE BENCH. I think we’ve been underrating the imprtance of depth. I think we’re especially overlooking how depth effects practice. The difference between our first team practicing against scholarship guys and walk ons is important. It breeds more competition, which will make our practices better. Guys will work eachother hard to get their own minutes

Good post. Ballhandling first and foremost. Guys who don’t pick up their dribbles constantly and can’t get around a hedging big. Silent G saved us and made a huge transformation but he was susceptible to this. Obviously Frank. Carey can’t function as of yet much like Kaleb Joseph.
I wouldn’t call CJ Fair elite but I hear you about an athlete who can finish. There’s a reason our offense grinded to a hault that 25-0 season towards the end of the year. Boeheim running the ISO offense through Fair who was a good college player but more of a 1B/Robin to a 1A/Batman.
It’s talent. Kyle Guy will play in the NBA. So will Jerome. Culver. Mooney will be be a backup PG somewhere, IMO. Auburn has a bunch of guards with swag. Our system limits the trend of positionless basketball. The youngsters coming in hopefully are better than advertised sooner than later or this WILL be Boeheim’s worst team and stretch ever. Not the way you want to go out. We gotta clean up the rebounding and get some beef down low. Jesse Edwards ain’t the answer.

I think we’re especially overlooking how depth effects practice. The difference between our first team practicing against scholarship guys and walk ons is important. It breeds more competition, which will make our practices better. Guys will work eachother hard to get their own minutes I agree with a lot of this... Shooting is a must in today's game. Guards that can penetrate are important too. Our guards (except for Tyus the last two years) weren't able to penetrate much, and neither was Hughes. We'll see if Carey, Goodine, JG3 and Washington can do this successfully this year. I also agree with the need for depth, and how that helps practices. Our championship team had guys like Pace, Edelin and McNeil. The bigs is the hardest part to evaluate. I don't expect Sidibe to be a player. Until we see them in action, and how quickly they can get stronger, knowing what we actually have in JBA and Jesse is a crapshoot. I like their mobility and versatility, and long term potential. I do feel like we need a beefy guy down low, just so we don't continually get man handled on the boards. I'm sick of watching Dolejaz play center. It was embarrassing that we had him play the 5 last season. As much as I like Dolejaz's court IQ and hustle, he's just not a center. Maybe I'd be higher on him if he didn't play out of position all the time. I think I get unfairly frustrated with him because I want more out of the center position. It's not his fault that he's getting forced to play there. If we want to be successful JBA and Jesse will need to develop QUICKLY and get a lot STRONGER. Our bigs on our lone championship team had beef (Forth and McNeil were both in the 250's). That said, there are pieces to be excited about next season, but the youth and lack of physicality are IMO going to kill us. Even our guards are thin. Carey was listed as 168 (I think) and Brycen (for as good as he may be) also looks to be pretty thin. I think we will get outmuscled in most games this year. To stay competitive we will really need to shoot lights out and have ball movement and transition like we haven't seen in YEARS. I'm not sure we still know what the roster will be next season. Who knows if Oshae will actually return. I think Sidibe should transfer. Who knows if Braswell is content? I'm assuming Carey will be back, but there are TONS of question marks with next year's team. I'm looking forward to seeing the new faces, but I think Sobe might be right. There will be lots of growing pains, and it could be a really tough season as a result, maybe even JB's first losing season. I hope the guys develop quickly and prove everyone wrong. We have a long time to wait and find out.
