On this date 16 years they won the first NCAA tourney in SU history.
This was also a special night for me too as I hit a daily double, as my oldest daughter was born 20 minutes after the game.

It’s interesting whenever I rewatch some of those 2003 games. I wonder how effective that team would be in today’s game. Forth and occasionally Edelin/Pace/Duany might be completely ineffective in today’s game. They do some little things though.
That was a great TEAM. Nice pieces. Man, McNeil was really valuable at times. Strong presence, good finisher, rebounder/shotblocker. Sort of what TTech has in Odiase.
Boeheim still coaches similarly. It’s all NBA-ISO stuff for the most part except we don’t have players like Melo/Warrick you can just give the ball to and isolate in the post. Makes you appreciate UVA. I don’t care what anybody says. Beautiful basketball. Watch off the ball. Watch some of the screens Salt makes. The angles and different spots on the floor. He’s the best screener in the country. Guy and Jerome screen all over the place too. Should be an interesting one tonight. In 2003 I was traveling through Atlanta and found an AMAZING SU/KU watch party through the old board (pre-syrfan.com) at a huge sports bar in suburban ATL. Incredible night!
