Hard to wrap my head around why Akok or any recruit would pick UCONN over Syracuse considering the ACC a much better conference, and we've got a HOF coach vs a newbie coach. If we land Stewart then it won't matter. But if we lose Akok and Stewart, what other 4/5's can we land?

Think Pitt is #1 and possibly UConn #2.

Unless Capel is doling out bags and Hurley too. If the FBI investigation is doing anything to level the playing field, this shouldn't continue to happen, I wouldn't think?

With a kid like that it comes down to where hes comfortable and what he knows. He is way more comfortable with crappy uconn and the current players/staff then he is with cuse. Yes we were on him longer but uconn was able to close the gap the past few months because of being so close to him and having easy access. I dont put too much into social media but USUALLY after a visit or even before the visit kids tend to follow players on the team etc. Akok literally has NO relationship with anyone on the current roster or even others being recruited except for goodine. Even still after the visit. It's a little strange (yes it doesnt necessarily mean anything but it's odd in this day for kids) so that's just me reading the tea leaves. If this was strictly a business decision then we win every day of the week...maybe he decides that way but for a kid like him I think hes going with "comfortable" and I hope I'm wrong. Time will tell but this is totally just my own opinion and what I think is gunna go down. Akok=disappointment. Again, I really hope I'm completely wrong and this kid is gunna throw me for a loop! Supposedly the visit was great and the staff was amazing all weekend but I was told it's very difficult to get a read on this kid. Very polite and very quiet. Didnt talk too much. And that's consistent with what we have heard all along.

If Akok is truly that introverted he may or may not have the right mentality or tenacity to be a star player, 5 star recruit or not. That's disappointing since we will have wasted a lot of time and resources on recruiting him if he chooses UCONN. I understand it, but it has me concerned about our front court. JBA has good potential but I don't think he's ready right away. Chewy is graduating, and Sidibe is coming off an injury/surgery and while he showed flashes didn't play much.
That said, if Stewart and Akok are both long shots, we've got to get Carrigan or Wahab (unless someone else has emerged that I don't know about). We have our full allotment of scholarships now, so I hope we use most of them. Any word on Carrigan's academic status/eligibility?

The feeling I get with Carrigan is that he's a plan B right now plus he needs to insure his grades are in order.

I really hope we can land one of Akok or Stewart. Our class of Goodine, JG3, JBA and Quincy (I'm optimistic he's Orange), is off to a nice start. Getting Akok or Stewart would make our good class elite. On top of that, we'd actually be able to put all of our recruiting efforts on the 2020 class instead of scrambling like we have in recent years to round out our class. Getting that kind of a jump start could be huge in establishing early relationships with future recruits. LGO! πππ

Don't shoot the messenger -
Contenders: Final five of Connecticut, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Providence and Syracuse.
Early or late: Early.
Breakdown: Akok's lone remaining official visit to take is Pittsburgh and he's knocking that out over the next few days. A decision might not follow immediately, however Akok should be ready to decide relatively soon. There were rumors that he committed to UConn after his visit there but he shot them down. The Huskies do, however, appear to be in pretty good shape and would be our pick if we had to call any school the leader.
