Sloppy first game. The loss of Triche was noticeable. We’re going to need to be a lot better to advance.

Outside shooting wasn't good at all. Crawford pretty much was killing us all game then finally hit some big shots in that 3rd quarter when they took the lead. I'm not sure what was up with Hak but looked like had a minor injury and need him going further. He and Arinze are all we have up front for offense game as Watkins is pretty much nill. Hopefully Andrew White can find his shot and Michael G. gets his groove going. He looked like he was pretty much feeling things out there last night and was passive at times.

That was rough. Much like some of our current teams. Too much 1-on-1, dribbling into traffic, lack of toughness, getting crushed on the boards, poor ball movement, etc. Hmmm, what’s the common factor in all of this?

We should have gone small. Watkins was bad. Arinze didn’t give much either. Triche was sorely missed. Poor execution and lack of shooting. Outside of Devo, our guard play was bad. Gillon and Gbinje gave very little also.

Agreed. Any type of skilled and physical Pitt or Villanova style comprised roster will give Syracuse players problems. What we saw today. Grit, better ballhandling, sharing the ball, better effort on the boards, more quickness, etc.
Gillon never had a lot of b-ball IQ, IMO. He could make some big shots and occasionally light up a scoreboard but he never had a good feel for the game. He also gets himself in trouble penetrating too deep and getting stuck. Gbinije really looks like he lost a step or two. He used to be dynamite attacking the basket and with decent speed not so long ago but that’s gone. AO and Mookie were awful today.
JB seemed a little incoherent on the telecast and I worry about his communication skills, attention to detail, presence, etc. Or maybe the assistants just have a heavier load now. Just my opinion.

Funny you mentioned JB’s interview. I thought he seemed a little off/slow. Nothing I can put my finger on. Maybe it’s just a product of him being relaxed on the offseason, I don’t know. Let’s hope so.

Having the kid Crawford on the team didn't work and hopefully they don't invite him back next year. Not having CMac for this game was huge and think if we had him would have made a difference. Someone to go to on the block, rebound, play some D.
The zone out right sucked today too. Too many open shots and how many offense rebounds did they get...unbelievable.
