No disrespect to Iowa but this just illustrates what the perception is of Syracuse.

Now you're just reaching and trying to make any point again vs JB and the program.
Since we have been in the ACC - Iowa - Ohio State - Maryland - Wisconsin - Wisconsin - Michigan - Indiana
Iowa was a second round team last year and the obvious story line of father/son for both teams makes it a worthwhile match up. Duke has played Indiana like 3-4 times in last handful of years, and how putrid of a program have the hoosiers been? Obviously there is history in bloomington but basketball wise it has not been good.
Again I can understand some of the beef against JB and the direction things have trended in last 3-4 years. My head is not in the sand on that. But to point to our Iowa match up in this as an indication of our program I think is just reaching.

I don't necessarily see a correlation between the matchup and the state of the program. That said, I am concerned that this could very well be our first losing season. If you think the JB critics have been harsh, you haven't seen anything. It 'could' get really ugly if this team doesn't gel quickly, the freshman aren't ready, Sidibe is still a stiff, and Marek has to play center again. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm not particularly high on the team this year.

What else can it be? It’s completely tangible. Both teams aren’t really expecting to be good. Fact. Iowa loses a LOT and so does Syracuse. Syracuse isn’t reloading like some of the big boys as well. What does it mean? Exactly what I said. We aren’t thought of very highly. Same with Iowa.
The other matchups had more cache. Why? Because SU was better or at least supposed to be better. I believe we were ranked or at least close to it. Same with Michigan/Maryland/Wisconsin. Except Wisconsin (leftovers from those excellent Kaminsky/Dekker teams like Hayes and Happ) completely stifled us twice and we had to endure Kaleb Joseph crapping the bed (also falling down by himself on a solo fastbreak) in Ann Arbor. I wouldn’t call Indiana putrid either. 2015-16 they were the #1 seed in the Big Ten Tourney (which means they actually accomplished something) but lost in the S16 to UNC. The following season they were hyped pre-season which probably explains the matchup with Duke but then had a disappointing regular season.

all i am saying is that if season goes as badly as some on here are saying (for the record no i do not think we will have a losing record like some, but i do think it will be a struggle and ugly at times) then the complaints about JB and the fall of the program SHOULD and WILL get louder and more aggressive. But imo it is reaching to say that our one non sexy match up in the history of the event signals our downturn.
