Like I said earlier, we got in late on this kid and FSU/Maryland were recruiting him longer. You know we don't pay for recruits like certain schools, so it was it is. Best of luck to him at FSU. Now who’s going to provide the beef? Sidibe’s whopping three good games at the end of the season don’t inspire hope in me. We still need another beefy center or power forward to have any chance next year.

It’s not losing QB that hurts, it’s whiffing on a center with size, strength and beef we recruit. I’m sick of our recruitment of beanpoles. So sick of it.

I kinda of hope he delays his decision to me that makes me think we are player. If he goes ahead and announces Saturday I believe it would be one of the schools that's been on him for a while. Knowing our luck he'll go to FSU and wreak havoc on us on both ends of the court in a few years. Like I said in post above we got in late on this kid and FSU/Maryland were recruiting him longer. You know we don't pay for recruits like certain schools, so it was it is. Best of luck to him at FSU. We got in on him like 3 days after FSU... and we were the home team. I’m with Jazz, this blows. It’s not that Quincy is that great, but cmon we need a real big guy so badly, a bruiser... a Jeremy McNeil or Otis Hill type.

www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2022/04/florida-state-transfer-quincy-ballard-to-visit-syracuse.html?outputType=ampPretty much as expected. Lazy effort in my opinion… It’s funny how he wasn’t good enough 2 years ago, and now he’s our answer? Yes we offered him 2 years ago, but it was pretty widely understood that it was more of a token offer because he was local. I have mixed feelings… we certainly need the depth, and the size. But he barely even played at FSU. If he was sitting behind other guys, one would think he’s next up to play… unless he just isn’t good enough? Not enough film at FSU to know. I’m indifferent. Meh 🫤

Maybe he’s cool with playing 5-8mpg backing up Jesse but we can and should do better.

This same board lamented the failures by not getting Quincy just two years ago! We are never getting a high end center. We are going to have a top 3 center in the conference playing majority of minutes. Kids dont transfer to play 10 mpg unless they have to.

I won’t deny saying that. But he’s demonstrated nothing at FSU to make me keep that opinion. You’re also right that “kids don’t transfer to play 10 mpg unless they have to.” I translate that to mean, he wasn’t good enough to play at FSU so he had to leave. Why would that be different at SU?

The issue with Ballard previously was that he was right in their backyard all along but the staff waited too late to get involved. They obviously wanted him then and want him now. Not a good look that they waited so long then. Again, laziness.
I don’t think he’s particularly a good fit here but at least he would be a sturdy body backing up Jesse.

It wouldn't. If he comes here it is to play 10 minutes a game and back up Jesse. Potentially take a step the year after that or get leaped over by a recruit, current player, or portal player.

I’d like to see us look at other players besides just Ballard. Essentially we’re doing the same thing we did last year with Symir and Cole. We grabbed guys that we had previously offered that didn’t cut it elsewhere. No real effort or energy expended looking for better fits. There’s got to be other big men besides QB in the portal or grad transfers to look at besides QB.
