Who said we weren't pursing him?

Who said we weren't pursing him? I guess it just seems quiet on this front so maybe I’m making a wrong assumption.

So, with the UNLV coach leaving, is this kid open again?

So, with the UNLV coach leaving, is this kid open again? I wish! We really need to add a strong guy, especially if they think we could lose Quincy. He’s our only beef down low.

Could be interesting (doubt we get lucky) if he gets away from UNLV:

I wonder what kind of chance we have. The article mentions our depth at Forward as a “hiccup.” That said I think he’s super talented and could beat out Jimmy and maybe even Cole. He’s 100X more athletic.

Agreed and you know that both those kids are going to get PT ahead of him regardless even if he’s better. kadary is a perfect example.

Yeah don’t understand why Kaluma hasn’t trimmed us from his list, frankly. There is no way he is going to get the playing time he supposedly wants.
I sure hope (but doubt) the staff is looking at an impact guard/ballhandler. Way more important. We barely have any impact guard ballhandlers with speed who attack. It’s crazy.

Kaluma's game looks like he can handle pretty solidly. A little Draymond or one of my personal favorite college players Roosevelt Jones. Maybe the staff is trying to sell him on additional minutes as a point forward.
And yes we are deep at the 4 and that is def a hiccup. But in those interviews his AAU coach sounded pretty grounded too. Saying they are trying to sort through everything see who is the most genuine. He would certainly be our second most talented forward after Benny, so if that is the case come in and play against better talent every day and be a 2 year guy. Iron sharpens iron and to play against Benny everyday would certainly be doing that. Maybe that is the pitch there.
And yes we are all upset about Kadary. But at the end of the day he was a fringe top 85 kid that played 20 minutes a game as a freshman. That number would no doubt of gone up as well. So as much as I would Love Kaluma, if he is only going to go somewhere that the coach promises him a starting spot at 35 mpg then so be it.

So as much as I would Love Kaluma, if he is only going to go somewhere that the coach promises him a starting spot at 35 mpg then so be it. The issue is how Kadary impacted the game and his abilities VS the current guards. Not to mention the lack of depth. I never thought Kadary was the greatest thing since sliced bread. However we have had lead guard/ballhanding woes for years. It’s unreal. Kaleb, Frank, Carey/Goodine who ended up leaving, etc. Kadary had qualities that we haven’t seen in years. Let’s pray Symir is much better than advertised. There is only so far you can go and certain types of teams you can beat without any speed/downhill attacking from the guard position. It’s going to keep us around Bubble territory and if we do sneak into the Tourney it will limit us there too. You can’t just keep being a jump shooting team when some of your looks aren’t even very good and when you get very little dribble penetration or buckets near the rim. If someone could command honest D in the post or a double down there then, sure, that’s a solid way to free up shooters. But, I’m tired of playing all of this Russian Roulette of being a jump shooting team with such little margin of error.
