C’mon! Big after big is committing elsewhere. If we stand pat with the bigs we currently have, JB is a moron. Only a fool would enter into next season with our current beanpole bigs. Especially when HE ADMITTED that his recruitment of big men has been poor... then to do nothing about it or whiff on all of them??? Offered: Patrick Tape, Cliff Omoruyi, Hunter Dickinson, Jamari Sibley, Isaiah Jackson, Noah Collier, Dain Dainja, Isaiah Cottrell, Shon Robinson, Lance Ware, Quincy Ballard COUNTLESS others have been available that we haven’t pursued too. Even on the transfer market. Unacceptable!!!!!!! Still say main problems are most of these kids don't want to play zone D in college for all 40 minutes, plus coach's are using JB's age against him, and when's the last time SU has put a productive Center in the league.

I get it. Trust me, I know all too well why we can’t recruit like we used to. That’s why if JB can’t get it done, we need to clean house. It’s downright ridiculous how we can’t get a big man worth a damn anymore, or any 5 star players either. Dior doesn’t count because I don’t think he’ll ever play at SU. I’m just venting. Hoping like heck Wildhack grows a set of balls and pushes JB out before our program is completely in the sewer. Bubble/NIT for the next 3-4 seasons doesn’t interest me, and I think that’s our ceiling.

I dont disagree and I have lamented on here that I am in the camp that JB is still a high level coach, but recruiting has been so bad and our talent is just not where it needs to or should be. If recruiting does not pick up, a change for sure has to be made.
I guess my question is, Why does Dior not count? Because he may go to the G league route? Until he officially says he is not playing college ball or decommits not sure it is fair to say he is not 5 star committment. Albeit 3 years out from being on campus.

Same with Bazely. I’m sure barely anybody now remembers Bazely once ‘committed’ to SU. This all changes if Dior shows up. We’re getting to the ‘proof is in the pudding’ point with SU and JB’s tenure here. Does anybody honestly believe that this team in the immediate future is better than the aggregate of what we have been as of late? A Bubble/NIT/squeak into the Tourney type of squad? A mediocre ACC team? It’s not just exclusive to ACC play. I cringe thinking how this program would handle the physicality of the B10 grind. Hell the Big East again? Playing Villanova again? We lose to Georgetown now. Seton Hall? Could we handle Providence? Road games @creighton and Xavier? F no, lol. They aren’t winning those. The program handicaps itself by being married to the Zone. It’s a crucial issue because we have to selectively determine and identify beforehand which players will be OK with playing all-Zone. It’s totally possible that they did put feelers out on Silva but found out he’s not interested in Zone. This happens. Then, when players do arrive to campus they learn that they are automatically incapable of playing M2M deemed by the HC. Forget any adjustments. We run a primitive offensive system based on showcasing the individual talents of certain players. Go make a play. Fine if you have them. Often without a lot of fundamentals and structure. For years we have ignored post play and that art is still not all lost in today’s game. I guess it all goes back to recruiting. Even a generally perceived ‘good ‘ coaching job by JB these days is still putting us on the Bubble with 14 loss seasons. What the hell is that? Is it broken? About a week before conference tourneys were supposed to drop I was on a long drive and called into Sirius. Got through. Spatola and Dakich, both knowledgeable cats who have done our games, almost felt sorry for us from what I gathered when I asked about the state of the program. You know they didn’t want to be too negative probably out of respect to JB but yet I could tell they know we clearly aren’t the same program anymore. Spatola echoed what Fraschilla said earlier in the year how this was the least talented team he has seen in the JB era. All Dakich said was, “You gotta go out and recruit!” Teams are out there doing more with less. I could bring up plenty more issues. Is it broken?

We’ve become an average team that on a hot day can pull of the upset. We’ll lose to the elite teams 95% of the time now. So yes, it’s broken. And I’m not foolish enough to put the future of the program in the hands of some sophomore who’s what 16 years old? If they’re banking on Dior’s commitment, they’re playing some serious Russian roulette.
