Another thing to think about...regardless of what kind of playing time he may or may not have....I dont think our staff feels great about our 2021 big situation so I would LOVE to have a sophomore Frank Anselem with a year under his belt for the 21 season and then land big man Donovan for 2022 worth Dior/Zion. Just sayin....that is if all that actually happens lol. I think you are right re: 2021. Gotta be a factor. Again, this is nothing to do with Frank‘s talent. Hopefully it’s enough to force JB’s hand into giving him good minutes. Just super curious what their hopes and plans are for JBA/Jesse. I mean what did they recruit them for, lol. We’ll see. Hopefully he does commit and comes in like gangbusters like we hope Kadary will. Good question...jesse I think was more of a desperation move at the time....but he does have some upside. JBA our staff really liked before his injury in highschool killed his rankings but they stuck it out with him. One thing I know for sure about JBA is that the kid can legitimately shoot the 3 ball. If he could somehow play the 4 for us as a stretch 4 type down the road that would be great but I just dont know how hes developed over this year and what he will be like. Hes kind of a wildcard right now. Kid can shoot tho for real especially for a big. It was encouraging that he has put on size during his redshirt year as well.

That question was meant to be rhetorical, ha. Jesse was definitely a bit of a reach/panic/project. My fear with JBA is that he’s just going to want to camp out and shoot. With the weight gain not sure if he’s fast or agile enough to play the 4. He’s also a below the rim player. Maybe the staff knows all this hence recruiting Anselem. Maybe they can’t really see a future in JBA/Jesse. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Who are these dudes interviewing from mom’s basement, lol? I’m not even really sweating this recruitment. It might be a nice moral/recruiting/image win but, let’s be honest, he’ll barely play even if he shows up. Sharp kid. Well spoken. No mention of JB just Red. Talked about getting opportunities to play. Even mentioned winning games in blowout fashion so he can play in case he comes off the bench. Talked about development of players. Talked about how good SDSU is and how good they were going to be in the Tourney. I’d say it’s between us and SDSU. I’d say Aztecs if gun to my head based on what he said. Lol, Pat Lawless does a really good job on his site. He's interviewed tons of kids, plus he's had former NBA players on it too. It's him and another one of his buds that run the site and do the interviews. I agree about him playing too. He even was saying in interview he would like to be able to play a lot and work through problems on the court. You know with the old man, one bad play (unless you are one of his favs) and you are back on the bench.

just figured I'd share this article I came across because there isnt much frank news at the moment. Kinda shows how highly recruited he was and where he was ranking wise before reclassifying and his season at prolific. Kid will be one of our better bigs we have landed in awhile. I know some arent too excited about the possibility of him but make no mistake hes a big upgrade in the bigs we have been recruiting and landing the past few seasons. Gotta land him! This is a older article obviously. bustingbrackets.com/2019/10/23/ncaa-basketball-recruiting-offers-rolling-2021-center-frank-anselem/amp/"Four-star big man Frank Anselem continues to see offers from high major programs roll in as he picked up his fourth NCAA Basketball scholarship overture this month recently. Consensus top-85 2021 center Frank Anselem picked up an offer from the Kansas Jayhawks on Oct. 22, via Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten. It is the fourth high-major overture that the 6-10 big man has received in October and the15th since the beginning of June. He holds 25 NCAA Basketball offers overall. Oregon, Arizona, and Arizona State are the other schools that have offered the Prolific Prep product (Napa, CA) this month. Rutgers, USC, New Mexico, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, DePaul, Nebraska, LSU, Georgia Tech, and TCU are among his other offers. Anselem is a four-star prospect. He is ranked as the No. 43 prospect in the class of 2021 by ESPN, which is the highest among the four major recruiting systems and is slated at No. 81 by Rivals — which is the lowest among the ratings. Meanwhile, 247Sports has him situated at No. 51 in their rankings, and 247Sports Composite has him at No. 60. The athletic Suwanee (GA) native’s offense is still developing, but he is already outstanding around the rim. Anselem also can run the floor and rebounds his area well. However, protecting the rim and swatting away shots is what he does best. Kansas has a commitment from 2020 6-10 center Getthro Muscadin (Haiti), although the Jayhawks could use to add at least one more big to recruiting class as they will lose Mitch Lightfoot and Udoka Azubuike to graduation this year. As it stands now, junior Silvio De Sousa and sophomore David McCormick, along with Muscadin, are the only frontcourt players that the team has in the fold next year. The Jayhawks do have 11 open offers to players in the 2020 class, including to power forwards Dawson Garcia (Prior Lake, MN), JT Thor (Anchorage, AK), and junior college prospect, Marial Mading (Chipola College). KU is projected to have at least two more scholarships available to use Anselem has taken a couple of official visits already with trips to Nebraska (Sept. 27) and LSU (Oct. 11). He told Evan Daniels of 247Sports that he might take one more visit, possibly to UCLA, USC, or Gonzaga, before the high school season. Anselem, who may reclassify to 2020, also said that Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee was recruiting him extremely hard."

I peaked at it. Doesn’t surprise me. Any elite recruit looking at WKU is doing it for one reason only, IMO. Let’s face it, WKU isn’t in an elite conference, they don’t get much tv coverage, and they don’t have any reputation for developing players or getting them into the NBA. Just my two cents, but no elite player goes to freaking WKU unless a bag is involved. It’s a damn shame what the game has evolved into these days... the best players are up for the bidding. Sucks big time.

Sucks big time. Definitely some truth to this and I’m sure an offering from $tansbury’s bagman is potentially the driving factor. But, WKU actually has really good hoops facilities. I’ve done the drive MANY times from Louisville to Nashville. Bowling Green is nice and only like an hour from Nashville. Somebody on the other board whom I trust actually lives in BG and has mentioned before that WKU isn’t your typical mid-major. Plus, Bassey will attract scouts as well when he’s back from his injury. They hung with Louisville and I think beat Arkansas last year before his injury. NBA knows about the OVC thanks to Morant, Faried, etc. Just offering another perspective to those who think WKU is some dump. Now, I’m sure $tansbury is up to something but they DO offer some other benefits. Syracuse offers far more. A newly renovated Dome, ACC, HOF coach, lots of NBA players, tv coverage, etc... Way more than WKU.

It could be a VERY nice place to someone who wants to be a big fish in a small pond regardless of $. No doubt Syracuse offers more but, frankly, I don’t think a lot of kids care about Boeheim/HOF. I’ve mentioned numerous times how for much of a kid’s high school/middle school days we have been largely irrelevant with a pretty poor product and suspect system on the court. Save for a couple of monster crowds for a Duke game in an otherwise morgue of a building. No kid knows SU/GTown, Coleman/Pearl/Sherm/Owens, Melo an afterthought, Waiters/MCW largely irrelevant, our bigs suck, etc. Obviously WE know the history and tradition but that doesn’t mean some 17 year old kid does especially if some coaches/handlers are in their ears about the damn Zone, old coach, Hop debacle, etc. Again, what these kids are seeing on the court has not been a good product. That’s just a fact if anybody understands the game of basketball. Lastly, if a kid truly wants to WIN and make the NCAA Tournament then there are a lot of better options than Syracuse these days

5. One basketball recruiting note. Frank Anselem may be getting closer to a decision. He has done virtual tours with Syracuse, Seton Hall, San Diego State and Western Kentucky. Kentucky has been eliminated while Seton Hall landed a big recently. This seems to be a Syracuse, WKU, SDSU battle. There has been different buzz behind the scenes as to which two schools stand out, but Syracuse has been one of them consistently. Still, this one is tough to read. Stay tuned.
