I’ll take the pre season all acc player over the top 60 rising senior.

I like our chances with JT. Good kid, and Mom seems to like ‘Cuse too. It really would be ideal timing for him to come because he’s thrive post Buddy.

I’ll take the pre season all acc player over the top 60 rising senior. I’ll take Taylor. He has Buddy’s shooting reputation coming in but with the athleticism of a Bob Sura/JJ Redick. This isn’t a small guard to post up on a Buddy backdown. Also a pickup game so less structure. Taylor’s team apparently owned Buddy’s team so it’s not inconceivable to think Taylor had his way with Buddy. I doubt they were playing Zone where Buddy can occasionally be hidden lol.

By JT's sophomore, junior, or senior year? Sure. Obviously JT has a higher ceiling just based on athleticism But you act like Buddy has never scored against athletic guards. SDSU and WVU games he is the main reason we won.
Look I get you have grown out of a favor with his father as the coach. And on top of that there is a serious argument that the roster the last 2-3 years has been constructed to benefit his minutes and him. Even I acknowledge that. But to take it out on Buddy just makes no sense. By all accounts he is a great teammate and far and away the hardest worker.
You have never seen JT play a live basketball game and you will take him over Buddy for this season? So yes I really hope we land JT, seems like a great fit. But no, I will still take the 22 year old ALL ACC player for one season oppose to the 17 year old top 60 rising senior.

Obviously Buddy is a hard worker and good kid. A lot of his points come in transition pulling up, backing a little guard down, or off pick ‘n pop threes where a defender for some reason falls asleep (WVU all game). Garbage time too in many of the games we were crushed. This can all be looked up. I just think he is more of a product of overuse. Being deployed like a Kobe Bryant and playing 40mpg. I don’t think he’s an NBA player. He’s not nearly as athletic as a Duncan Robinson, young Kyle Korver, young Redick, etc. Not even close. NBA is full of wings/SGs who are like DeJon Jarreau and the Duke guards who stuck with Buddy. Again, not knocking him truly. It’s more of how he is used and his worth offensively being inflated due to the system/high volume played.

I think that is totally fair. I do not think he is an NBA player either. Unless he takes some magical athletic leap. And I concur 100% despite his numbers it is a lot because of usage. Why I even mentioned that is apparent the roster at the guard spot has been constructed mostly to benefit him as the focal point.
With all that being said, for the 2021-22 season I still think it is just disrespectful to him and his game (because it has improved a lot from just being a catch and shooter) to say you would take a 17 4 star recruit over him for this one year.

Simply meant Buddy VS Taylor in that pickup game. My money is on Taylor destroying him. Wasn’t trying to imply replacing Buddy now on the current team with Taylor.

Fair enough. Still will slightly disagree but I can see your viewpoint

Think it’s between Cuse and UNC. I’m cautiously optimistic here. Absolutely perfect player to replace Buddy. I think he’s better. Certainly more athletic. He’d be lights out in Orange!!!

Fingers crossed here. Seems trending in the right direction but I’ll believe it when I see it and it’s 100%. Will be a great multi year piece
