Dasher, who I don't care, but seems to have inside info says there is no chance Woody is back next year. That sucks. Liked his game and showed so much promise early. Wonder what happened.
Also makes it sound like Jimmy Boeheim will be coming in next year. Not a fan of this. Maybe Woody sees the writing on the wall

I like his game too. Seems to be like Braswell but with more upside. I have to say though that Braswell has deserved every minute these past couple of weeks. Maybe between that, Benny coming, and the Jimmy tea leaves he wants to move on.
Feel like something happened behind the scenes. Because he was getting solid minutes, lots of JB praise. Then we went into the covid break and it fell off. Then JB mentioned in a presser he was going to get him back in vs Duke and he played poorly and have not seen him since. Strange for sure.

Yeah too bad as it seems Woody wants to bolt. He definitely has more upside than Braswell. Not sure if Braswell will become anything beyond a dude who camps out behind the 3pt line but no doubt he plays defense better than Griffin. Griffin hurt us yesterday.

That’s disappointing. It’ll be interesting to see who stays and leaves.
I’m guessing JG3, Buddy (obviously), Kadary, Bras, and Jesse will all definitely be back. I doubt Marek returns unless his GF wants him to stay. Quincy and Allen are like 50/50 if I had to guess. Frank and JBA are questionable too.

Woody really showed flashes of being a confident, and capable player. He also had the type of length that we need desperately as we seem pinned to the zone, but just aren't putting the pieces in that can play it well.

Someone said there had been some disrespectful language or something from Woody to JB. Maybe the relationship just got fractured there and one or the other party decided it was unrepairable. Which is a shame. I also thought Woody had more upside than Braswell, though Braswell did some pretty fantastic things recently. I really, really, really hope JB didn't sacrifice Woody in able to open a spot for his son. That would be a sucky, selfish thing to do, trading one year of family for 3.5 years of Woody.

Where did someone say that? Never saw that story out there but could explain it.

I can't say I'd blame him. Coach made some seriously nonsenical decisions this year with how he dished out PT. Nevertheless, bad language directed at the Coach will likely never win you any favors. He seemed like a fairly mild mannered kid. Woody has considerably more upside than Bras IMO. Bras is a great shooter, with some athleticism, but more like a poor man's Mookie Jones from what I can see. Just very limited in too many other ways. Woody had a quick trigger, but seemed like he had a lot to offer all-around. If we end up with Jimmy..................................................I may be done with Syracuse. Not really, but it would destroy me.

Woody with a quick three in his 52 seconds tonight - kid really does have potential with that length to excel in this program. Hope he stays.

I hope Jimmy doesn’t come to SU but wouldn’t be surprised. Not sure where he gets a lot of PT unless Marek And QG leave. I’m not sure of Benny is more of a 3 or 4 at this point.

Apparently last night Kadary was filming Woody on IG Live and Woody said he (Woody) would not be back next year. That's fine. I get he is upset that he didn't get much playing time this year and I think he has a lot of upside, but to film that and put it out to the public while your team is on an unexpected run to the Sweet 16 is poor taste to say the least.

Like everyone I like Woody's upside and fit in our system. But he seems like he thinks he was some consensus 5 star kid and not someone closer to 150 than 100. Even at the end of the SDSU game when he launched the 3 and with 6 seconds left in the game wanted to race up the court in a blow out and try it again.
It is funny too because at the beginning of the year JB said he told Woody all along view this year as a bonus. Take whatever you can and be ready to be a major contributor your sophomore year. Not sure where the disconnect came. Maybe when he got some PT to start the year and then it went away?

Had to launch that quick 3 VS SDSU and you know he wanted to fire off another one. Yeah he’s no 5*. Potentially more tools than Braswell but this team does not need more gunners like him or a Mookie Jones type. One thing Woody does not do and it was a bit of a concern that Dean Francis had in scouting him was rebounding. He didn’t show a knack for it and a desire to mix it up down there even in H.S. A 6’8 kid should be dominating on the glass in H.S. We needed defense and rebounding since Griffin wasn’t giving much. Braswell helped more.

Yea I just don't see the disconnect in how he thought he was getting major minutes in year 1. The staff certainly did not say it. To think if Sidbe never got hurt and Marek, AG, and Quincy all played the 4 there would be even less to go around.
Maybe when Sidbe went down early, then Woody flashed he thought big minutes were coming and then when he got sent back to the bench after the pause he soured? Who knows just seems odd.

Seems like he could do well down there, give him Griffin's energy and he could pick up a lot of boards. I think like some other players at some point he decided he could play only if he shoots/makes immediately. Kid's trigger was insane upon entering games. lol Even against SDSU you knew he'd get a three up.
