I think so.
if you were head and shouldres better than the guy starting over you. he's returning. you're goal is the nba, if you think you can improve your chances of being a pro. it's a free transfer to give it a go.
i think he's fine whether he stays or goes.
but why risk it? he seen jgiii play over him once when it made no sense already.

Yeah, I can't really fault for Kadary for leaving either. At the end of the day, the whole situation had to be incredibly demoralizing at times. Players playing because they needed reps, but other players not playing because they didn't get reps. I don't know. Coach just saying stuff in the age of social media likely has many pitfalls.

I don't understand how we will even play defense? Is the hope just that Anselem and Jesse are so dominant in the back that we surive? Jimmy, if he onboards, is dreadfully unathletic, even if he is more athletic than Buddy. Buddy is hopeless. Joe is hopeless. I've watched some videos of Swider today, and from the little I've seen of him trying to drive, I'm guessing he may be the least athletic player on the team. We are just going to straight up try to outscore everyone strictly off 3s?

We are certainly not going to be a force on D. But if you compare our potential starting 5 vs last years it is probably better.
Both the guards are the same, ideally stronger or quicker with another year in the zone under their belt. Marek not playing out of a position at the 5 and having Jesse in there makes the biggest difference IMO and makes us MUCH better on D. And the forwards Alan was maybe our worst defender so replacing him with Benny is a big plus. And the other spot is a big swing in my opinion. If it is Quincy or Woody that could be a pretty solid defensive team. If it is Swider or Jimmy maybe not so much. (Although I do think Swider is a much better Zone D fit than pressure M2M like Nova plays)
Losing Kadary of course really hurts especially in those games like Buffalo or ND where we couldnt stop a nose bleed and he came in for Joe and helped us clamp down. If Symir can replicate even 50% of that on D it helps.
Again I am not saying were gonna be a top 10 Defensive team giving up 55 points per night. But I dont see how its much worse if any worse from last year.

Without Marek and Kadary I think we really could potentially struggle on offense. We are going to have to scheme everybody open because this WILL be the least athletic Cuse team most likely ever in the modern era. There will be so little dribble penetration I fear which will be hard to watch. We will need to just hit jumpers, run pick n pops, etc. We’ll probably see a lot more of those goddamn backdowns/post ups. K and M were great passers and of course K could get downhill some against better teams. Hopefully Joe sheds some weight and that clinic/camp Buddy is going to Cali for agility/explosiveness training pays off. I worry about facing good athletes and JB trying to bring so many new guys for the damn Zone. I think we will get slaughtered in the Bahamas/early season then probably improve enough to get back to the Bubble conversation where we clearly belong. So frustrating.

Dribble pentration will be a tremendous issue
How do we create offense? Often our guards already struggle with pressure. neither even has gotten to the point where they react well to double teams
Joe retreats as if it's some new defensive scheme that nobody has ever seen before
Buddy often jumps heaves the ball in some direction which often is deflected out of bounds, or we have a 50/50 scenario on who gets the ball as the pass is just a lob to nobody in particular

Spot on. Dribble penetration has been a problem for years too. I just don’t get this roster construction unless Boeheim has predetermined that he wants SU to be this ND-esque team of shooters who are bad fits for his Zone D. I almost want to cry watching all these teams round after round with a stable of good, quick guards.

Kadary now averaging 8.4 ppg, 3.9 reb., 3.2 apg with a defensive rating 10 points better than what he had last year.
A few guys on Syracusefan couldn’t post fast enough when he struggled against Michigan. According to them he couldn’t play man to man defense, and left to “shoot one 3 per game, same as he did here”. They were so smug, but now they delete every post that mentions him playing a good game.
What a trash place to talk hoops that place has become. Can only discuss what fits the chosen narrative. If it wasn’t for the 15-20 posters that make the OT board fun, I’d never go there.

Whether it’s the state of program, Kadary, etc. It took Kadary some time and he probably came in a little out of shape there. Willard’s M2M scheme is SO far fundamentally different than what we do lol. It was going to take some time. Furthermore, he’s got good guard teammates. A far cry from here. This team really misses a PG who can get downhill and put a stress on a defense. UConn is a good defensive team (they would crush us this year) and he was getting to the rim at will during that scoring run of his.

It’s funny you’re allowed to trash former players there but talking about the same players in any sort of capacity gets your post deleted, banned from the topic, or banned in general.
