1. We have the oldest D1 coach, who doesn’t seem to know how to keep his players happy and get enough guys minutes. 2. We have two guards who are not athletic who are both guaranteed starting jobs. No good guard will transfer here to back them up. 3. We have two centers (Jesse and Frank) and the zone D takes time to learn. What good center is going to transfer to sit and learn the zone for a year? 4. Quincy might return... so what good PF is going to transfer here without knowing Quincy’s intent? 5. JB has become even more cantankerous in his personality. There are countless coaches I would prefer to play for if I was a young guy.
Honestly, I think we’ll be lucky to get Jimmy and maybe a SF/slasher type of AG leaves too. I just don’t know how you pitch coming to Syracuse right now. JB’s brand of basketball... zone and using a small roster just doesn’t lend itself well to today’s game. Kids don’t learn the zone quickly and they don’t want to wait their turn to play. That’s a recipe for disaster for the Syracuse system.
Please retire JB!

We won’t. I did not think it would shakedown quite like this but it is clear in my mind that this is the manifestation of what the vibe and direction of SU bball right now. It’s not good. I think the S16 was a nice bandaid on a lot of systemic woes. In hindsight, it doesn’t surprise me now that JB-Buddy went on like EVERY national TV-radio show last week yapping about themselves. That takes a ton of time. Maybe time better served scouting and preparing for HOU. Now, I think it may have been more a calculated national recruiting pitch/plea knowing that his roster is going to be blown up and in shambles a few days later.

Exactly. Looks like Symir may commit tomorrow, but I’m shocked given that Joe and Buddy are guaranteed starters. Looks like we’ll get Symir and Jimmy! Whoopee!!!

I have no desire for Symir to be on the roster unless we already struck out on everyone else. Howard Washington 2.0

Those numbers aren't impressive at all. At Marquette. He was a four star recruit but he didn’t get much playing time at Marquette. Decent size at 6’3”. Knows Buddy and Joe so there would be some chemistry. This was 2 4 7’s scouting report out of high school: Good physique for a point guard, and he can also play shooting guard. A physical slasher who passes well off the dribble. Loves to set players up but is a quality scorer as well. Quality rebounder as a guard who can defend at a high level and defend multiple positions. Plays with an edge and competes.Could develop into an NBA player. I’ll certainly take him but would much preferred keep Kadary.

Those numbers mikedamone posted scare me - those are not good on a pretty average team. I think I'd Goodine back, or Quade Green. Let's call him up! Anyway, we need help, and I suppose a 6'3" guard would help a bit - if he's quick for the zone. I don't know. I'm sort of feeling defeated at the moment with Kadary leaving.

Might have to lurk on some Marquette forums and find out some more info. I was expecting him to have a big season. He really didn’t do anything and was barely in the rotation. 8 minutes a game in most of the games the last month. He played 8 against UNC in that weird last minute scheduled game where they beat UNC. 3 pts there. Played 18 in the Georgetown BET blowout loss with 4 pts but most of those minutes were in garbage time. His first year I understand not getting run since Markus Howard was a stud but this season I expected a LOT more.

Most were unhappy he was leaving and thought he could be a player there. 2:1 assist to turnover ratio in limited action. Didn’t shoot consistently.

I have no idea how it impacts players, but he also talks a lot of **** comparatively about players not named Marek, Joe, Buddy in pressers. Not a great look.

Seriously... how do we attract players to come here now?
Hot cheerleaders?

It is early and a lot can happen. But we attracted a 5 Star in 2021, and seem to have a real solid looking shot at our best in class in 5-8 years in 2022.

I'd like to see us back to being a team that can run a bit more, penetrate - just generally a more attractive brand of basketball. Basketball was meant to be fun!!! The zone can be fun, but not if you combine it with zero offense.
