I like Swider, but he is a similar player to Jimmy B. Would we bring both in? He’s more of a stretch 4. I wish we’d get a bruiser especially if Q leaves.

I loved this kids game in HS and AAU but his style didn’t fit at Nova aka Jahvon Quinerly but look at what he’s done at Alabama. Depending on who stays he could be a nice fit.

He wants to wrap the transfer process up this week. Holy shit, I think this is a done deal. Wow.

Always thought he was an odd fit for Nova as he isn’t a bulldog in that 6-4-6-7 range and he struggles to defend. But, I’d take him. He can shoot and he’d likely be a better rebounder than Braswell. Not as athletic but he’s stronger. He’d probably just be parked in the corner here watching Buddy ISO to death but I’d take him. We need all the help we can get to avoid a total shitshow next season.

Wants to wrap up the transfer process this week. I’m thinking he’s Orange. I’d definitely take him. He’s probably better than Bras offensively but inferior defensively. We need bodies. He can shoot. Bring him in.

Quinerly’s issues were strictly defense related and effort there from what I heard once on Sirius when Lappas or Fraschilla was on once talking about them.

God, we really are morphing into a mid-major type program, but with 3/4 star players. No athletes, just out shoot you. It's such a horrid brand of basketball. Notre Dame without the muscle inside or an athletic PG.

Notre Dame without the muscle inside or an athletic PG. I mean I see your point but not how it relates to him. But Cole Swider was a top 40 kid with major offers. He is not a mid major player. He was for a bad fit at Nova. Not the type of kid who will thrive in a pressure man D. The zone should help him. He was for sure caught up in the moment of Nova and two titles in 3 years. He would help us.

I mean stylistically I get it for sure. We are basically becoming a ND with perhaps slightly better recruits (as per *s) but without the big plodder physical guy in the middle. I don’t like it. Buddy isn’t Pat Connaughton either.
Swider was top 40 sure and Jalen Carey was top 40ish as well. We can hide Swider in the Zone if he comes and he can make some shots. He’s not going to give you much off the bounce. I perused the Nova forum and saw other Cuse fans interacting with them and asking about him. He couldn’t move his feet and was a problem because they like to switch everything. Bit of a sulker too but I bet the culture and practices here will be a walk in the park compared to the Nova intensity Wright brings and their cultivation of that there. Rebounding I thought he was better but that was an issue too. 6’9 and 2.8rpg at about 25mpg. Still he potentially could help us and they think he would fit in well here (whatever that means) .
I just worry about Boeheim adding SO many new players. We don’t really have many Zone fits and he complains so much and laments how difficult it is to learn the Zone and various players’ defense. Of course never mentioning Buddy/Joe. Buddy btw was horrendous against Houston. Granted Jarreau probably was wearing him out giving him the business on the other end but he didn’t close out multiple times and let guys blow right by him. Last year theoretically we had quite a bit of experience coming into the season. The excuses are mounting.
I think JB has basically mailed it in now and has accepted we are mediocre. He says he’d like to be a 2 seed but what are we doing about it? I don’t know why he even wants to keep doing this. I mean what is he thinking when he watches these teams with their personnel and athletes?! Does he even care that we are SO far off from LEGITIMATELY (not a one game W of flukey/unconscious shooting) being able to compete with many of these teams? We won’t bottom out because the ACC is meh and has been for a third season in a row now and and we get 8-9 cupcake Ws. So around .500 in conference and potential bubble and Tourney bid I truly think is enough for him. Note: this is our ceiling. It just is. The year before that too. We are frantically scratching and clawing just to make it to the Bubble area. Not ok. It probably staves off the pitchforks because we can win a game or two in the Tourney as that goofy Zone team with shooters in the right matchup if we get there. But, why should the fans accept this? It’s going to get worse.

Agreed on so many new pieces with the zone. But with only one incoming recruit, and woody, Alan, and frank still likely to leave we need to have enough bodies for a roster!
