The fact people want to circle jerk buddy playing 10 minutes for the piston and scoring 3 points is hilarious I actually like Buddy and I liked him while he was here. He could've been better with a real team around him. he wasn’t a bad player. It’s more just it’s weird seeing people acting vindicated when he plays as like the 10th player on a bottom 3 team.

There were threads like this for Hughes, White, and other guys who had cups of coffee. Dude played dor us and played well despite everything around him. More weird to shit on one of the few guys who played here whos getting NBA minutes.

Also, at some point I really am not a fan of nepotism....and sorta the hypocrisy of letting him off the hook for it from certain types of people

I don’t really have an issue with buddy that much, it’s mostly Jimmy and Joe. Mainly Joe, can’t stand him at all really even if it’s irrational

I grew to not hate the butterball. Lol

Even on his celebration day, JB couldn't help but make a snide comment about these haters that "didn't think he deserved to play here" or something crap like that because to them (and JB) any criticism whatsoever means you hate them and think they suck.

I don’t think after his Sophomore year ANYBODY really questioned if he belonged at Syracuse. His criticism has ALWAYS been he played too damn much minutes per game and because of his presence we couldn’t recruit 4 friggin guards to be on the roster. JB couldn’t have 4 guards because then if Buddy was playing poorly he could sit. I remember we played Northeastern in the Dome during Covid Buddy was like 0 for 7 and the team was struggling and we had Kadary and Joe on the team. What was JB’s solution play those 2 at guard and KEEP buddy in at SF when we had forwards but because Prince Jackson was on the floor for spacing he couldn’t sit when his spacing meant shit when he sucked.
JB treated Buddy like he was JJ Reddick. I feel bad for Buddy because unlike his dad he never said enough and I think unlike his dad he knew to leave when it was time and not stay for a 5th year.
That board under the moderators treated Buddy like he was god’s gift to Syracuse fans. He was a solid player and his presence on the team screwed the program not because he couldn’t play because he broke his dad. His dad wanted to win with him rather just treating huh like a cog.
It’s not hard to see why things were and still are moderated the way they are.

I think every move we made was made to best suit Buddy and Buddy's ability to maximize playing time and opportunity.

It’s not hard to see why things were and still are moderated the way they are. I think this is where I sit. Like an Andy Rautins, Buddy MORE than showed he was capable of playing and excelling at this level. Even Jimmy in my opinion. The usage for those two made no sense though. Especially Jimmy. Buddy could have been a big minute guy by his Junior year. What I just can't ever come to terms with is that we shifted away from everything that JB held dear - to make the program work for his kids. He gets paid a lot of money - the kind of money that already gave his kid a 99.99999% better upbringing basketball wise that any other kid - so I just can't accept that he "earned that right."

If it was catered to Buddy then a legit point guard would've been brought in. The roster was a disservice to buddy if anything.

It’s the point if JB just did with Girard/Buddy/Kadary what he did with Triche/Waiters/Scoop and rotated them 25-30 mpg then it would have worked. JB wanted Buddy playing 35+ no matter what which is why we couldn’t get a real PG as Joe would have been like MCW in 2012 an elite 4th guard playing barely 10 mpg if lucky and waited. However Buddy had to play those minutes and if phucked the team because he had 2 awful guard on the top of the zone with little ball handling.

It went down just as posters here said it would.

Ya, this is what I never got -- for Buddy's best interest (and Joe's), there should have been a legit PG. It would have made it so much better/easier. Especially one that could play defense.
The Buddy thread over there always goes between his G-League stats / or if he's called up and then a pie fight about his time at Syracuse.
Everyone knows what happened. Just move the thread or kill it. Or just make a single Cuse in the NBA / G League thread, I dunno.
I'm just so tired of rehashing that time period when everyone knew what was going on.
I know I should just ignore it, though. That's on me.
