Agreed. Being a big recruit and local buy him extra time, IMO. And I do think he’s a horrible fit next to Judah. If I recall, when he committed we were still thinking Judah was probably gone? I’d like to see how he plays next year with hopefully a better fitting roster. Starling is tough. I'm still fairly high on him for the out years. I remember watching him at Notre Dame last year and thinking he sucked - but with upside. But does that upside manifest itself in the same way as a Benny where it just never really means much? A broken shot, and some skills, but no ability to put it all together? Regardless, local kid, and has enough tools where even if the shot never comes together should be able to do some stuff - drive, dish, score around the rim, etc... If the shot comes around, and depending on who is in the backcourt with him next year, you could see a huge jump. He’s shown a good handle and the ability to go by people at times, so that gives me hope. Benny can’t dribble, so once I realized that, my hopes for him were to become a junkyard dog garbage points guy - but he doesn’t have the b-ball awareness or focus for that.

Benny is like a really, really bad version of Roberson. Watching him shoot is always entertaining - although sort of like Starling, every once in a bit the form/shot doesn't look THAT bad for a few shots so you start to think maybe they can string some together. However, it very quickly falls to shit again each time.
ALl that being said, Starling has good size, can get his shot and does get by his man well enough. He's a very useful player no matter how it shakes out - I suppose it just comes down to whether he can be a difference maker or a nice placeholder for the next in line.

Every time he shoots off the dribble, Benny looks like he’s trying to jump 10 feet in the air - and then he just rockets a line drive off the front rim. He should only shoot if it’s a dunk or the shot clock is under 10 and there’s nobody readily available to pass to. Tired of him coming in jacking jumpers the first few times he touches the ball, as if he’s the microwave or something. Know your role.
