I mean seriously this is the type of crap they say over in the other board: We have NIL money, itās not an issue. ā¦ and then a minute laterā¦ We have a budget, and we have to be smart. ā¦orā¦ The amount that player is seeking is too much. Whether they want to admit it or not, statements like this are an admission of lack of funds. It means SUās budget aināt in the same class as the other elite programs. Yet there are tons of lesser known programs that have more money to pay than Syracuse. Itās extremely frustrating for fans, and yes, I do expect more than Jaquan Carlos at point. I wish we knew the deal on all this stuff so we can compare. Ā Iād love to know the budget of every team and how much every guy is getting. I wonder how much Lampkin is getting? Ā Struck me as curious how he and Carmelo were communicating on social media - made me think Melo was involved. You would think some of our nba guys could help a bit with NIL? Cool if Melo is trying to help. Melo is in a league by himself.

The problem with NIL is schools have fans pay for the NIL but the schools like Syracuse want that money for themselves. Which sucks because they should have enough from tuition but they want donations. Thus we donāt have as much money as we can for NIL.
The school wonāt help the Collaboratives for NIL as much as they can because those funds are competitive.
I wish the school could put a portion of the ticket toward the NiL but again they wonāt. Our school is going bleed itās fans to death and itās going to hurt our NIL.
Leffaw isnāt a big loss as I said he isnāt a NC player. He is depth. I like Red and donāt blame but our program has an energy problem from its fanbase and itās not hard to see why.

Some say we're fine, some the opposite. I want to know, is it we don't want to over pay or we don't have the funds? Someone in the know I saw claimed we're middle of the pack ACC in NIL. Did they decide Lefew wanting whatever it was, was too high a price? I don't want to assume. I think maybe another year of this and we can paint a more accurate picture

No, it means weāre not handing every player weāre interested in a blank check.

AMAZING how many really great players we arenāt āinterested inā or even in contention for. Iām sure itās because theyāre just not system fits??? It has nothing to do with them being out of our budget???
LMAO at the people that buy that load of garbage. The FACT is we have a limited budget, and it isnāt in the same ballpark as the teams that contend for the championship. Weāve become a middle of the pack ACC program as a result, and our record and lack of recent NCAA tournaments support this conclusion.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether the University is content with that. I'm dying for a championship contender. I'm not sure whether the University leadership is too. (I'm not saying they aren't -- I mean it when I say I don't know whether they are). If its plan is to collect checks and be an average team, then we all should peel back our level of caring (and donations). People point to football to show NIL and recruiting dedication, but that's survival -- the University needs the football team to be good enough to make a super conference if one forms, or else it will lose the checks. Basketball doesn't matter as much for that scenario.

Like, maybe we overpaid to retain or get some others and thereās not enough left? I donāt know - still think thereās potentially a lot of talent on the roster(dependent largely on Westry and how ready Freeman is IMO), but yeah - appears right now that lacking a bigtime PG will hold us back. But in terms of talent and depth - weāre way better than we were with the Chipwich team, for one example.

Yet miraculously those two made a sweet 16? Shit we had Dolejaz playing center. That might have been the least talented team that ever made a run in the tournament. Shit Iād be happy with sweet 16ās again, just program relevance would be nice I too would love to know how much our guys are getting paid. That would tell us a lot.

Sweet 16 team had Kadary and Guerrier. Plus Griffin - though his minutes faded at the end of the year, when Braswell had a stretch of shooting the ball well. Edwards was on that team (and underutilized) too. That team actually had solid talent and depth. Then everyone transferred to clear the way for Jimmy Jr.

They let Boeheim stay as long as he did and if he didnāt run his mouth as much as he did has last year about Wake, Miami one time and then BC the other time and rip on the fans for attendance he would have been around another year as Syracuse didnāt want to pay for another basketball coach. JB got paid his last year of HC and the school had to pay Red last year. The school is cheap. Itās why we kept Dino as long as we did. Any serious program fires Dino after the Covid year that year was so bad and uncompetitive it showed we were all about the $$$. School is cashing 35 million dollar a year ACC checks for TV and that isnāt even without ticket sales or sponsorships. That pats for the scholarships and coaches salaries. School is making money. They donāt care about winning as much as money. Itās like a lot of rich owners in sports but we are a college. NIL is because donors arenāt paying for it and as I have said I have given for football because I believe in Fran Brown. I like red but i am not giving another dollar to basketball before I believe and see it. Our NiL budget isnāt top of the market but itās not nothing. Again we lit money on fire with Benny last year and Mintz got some as well. We just have a budget. Itās hard when NIL collectives across the country have people who want to get paid to run them as well. Not sure we are doing that but some schools have people raising money for NiL and want a cut. Our problems are fan apathy and NIL wonāt explode till people want to donate and the school wants that money as well.

I always wonder about that last bit - do schools have people that make big money or a cut to raise NIL? Is it a position - it seems like every time you look at what people get paid big $$$ for at universities they have some sort of fundraising title. Not entirely, but somewhat.
