It's hard to see us being good right now. Not much confidence In how we pivot. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I didn't really want Leffew but how bad is it we cant lock this dude down? I'm kind of losing a lot of faith in Red here. I’m with ya. They say NIL $ is there, but it’s very very obvious that there’s not enough there to go after high impact players. We should absolutely be able to land a Mack, Hawkins or a Hoggard caliber point guard. Carlos is a nice backup. He’s not a program altering player. We need a better point guard, period. It would be one thing being in a premium players top 5, we're not even talking to these guys, and enough of the "stealth mode" bullshit. You are who you are and this is what we are.

A lot of people are down on DJ Wagner because of his tough freshman year in Kentucky. But he was still a number one high school guard. He’s exceptionally athletic, strong, and has a year experience against elite competition. His shot needs work, but it’s not a total loss. We were in contention with him for a while. I’m certain he’d play his ass off for a chance to redeem himself. Sometimes freshman take a year. To me he’s a perfect buy low prospect with potential homerun impact. I’d also be willing to bet that he’d eat Leffew for lunch.

The school needs to set up better infrastructure and get its fanbase to donate -- not just alumni. But there's lots of big public schools with way more alumni, richer alumni, bigger football so they get more general donations, and if it does revert to the school to pay how's that going to shake out for public v private? Idk. Seems like Syracuse should be competitive in NIL if the school gets really serious about it, but the phrase there's always a bigger fish comes to mind. It just seems likely that programs that weren't basketball powerhouses in the past but are state flagships or have big-time football - like a lot of the SEC schools we're seeing do well now - surpass Syracuse in basketball. Not saying total irrelevance would be on the horizon, but in the current landscape there's going to be a few dozen programs with a major edge and they can take the sport by storm if they want. Then sprinkle in historic bluebloods and programs that will do anything to win, and then i could see a world where Syracuse comes in after all of them. Anyways, I can't wait for the system to be revamped so the fans aren't funding NIL, and then we can focus on the new problem like the school paying NIL directly out of the AD budget etc. Well…..Leffew is visiting Georgia. If the kid ends up going to Georgia because they pay more than Syracuse, then I think we have significant reason to be worried about the scenario you are talking about. Georgia - SEC school, state school, historically a subpar power 5 basketball program. They have very rarely been good and have very little national cache or brand in basketball. Historically, that’s never been a school we should worry about if we’re recruiting against them. This is a school that has made the NCAA tournament just 12 times in their entire history. They have advanced to the sweet 16 just twice. Two times! We should be able to out recruit them all day, every day. Yup not great for cuse!

Idan Tretout just entered the portal and is 6’4 from Iona, played for Harvard, and is a NYC guy. 36% from 3. Has smarts and height, and toughness. Averaged 14+ppg. Not a PG, but a savy ball player. Might be worth a look?

I'll be our starting point guard. Scored an extremely efficient 10 points against Paul Smith's College in 2016.

It’s amazing how stupid people are that want a forward over a point guard. Carlos is undersized and will lose us games if he is playing 30+ at PG. We need a guard. Starling can play less and be more efficient.
Our roster lacks NCAAT quality guard play.
