Funny to see how the narrative surrounding the program and recruiting has changed in the last couple months. This Zion thread is a perfect microcosm.
In January the idea of us offering a high end 5 star was laughed at and met with a "no chance". To no ones fault either. Not like we had much to be excited about. We were in the middle of an NIT season bringing in a fringe top 35 class.
6 months later we land AG, Frank, and Benny. Tons of momentum on high end players. The only offers out for 2022 seem to be to top 50 kids. I guess we can only hope this is not a blip and it is the new normal. (Which was also the old normal)

I think this Dior signing out of nowhere has been the gamechanger. One could say it saved our image and brand without him even stepping foot on campus. Otherwise, I think the freefall in terms of perception and play on the court would be inevitable, IMO. I wonder if it has reinvigorated the staff. We see more offers and such going out. CoVid is perhaps helping in that regard with forcing the staff’s hand to get offers out there since contact in person has been limited. Again, Dior’s influence as well helping here. I still hope we can be a good team next season. I hope Boeheim will try to push the pace more and perhaps even switch out of the damn Zone at times. I’m watching games from Jason Hart led to Shumpert led teams switching defenses a lot! At this point it must be purely stubbornness re: JB. If the stale play and NIT type seasons continue then the likelihood of all these 2022 recruits coming including Dior becomes slimmer and slimmer, IMO. I mean it would be pure logic. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. For now, I’m enjoying the bump in juice and perception. We needed it!
