Hope all you guys got to check this out last night. Really, really enjoyed the first two episodes last night. Oh, I don't want to hear the MJ and LJ debate anymore. Hands down MJ greatest of all time and oh btw he never quit on his team, if anything from last night just proved he wanted to win at no matter what costs. Look how he was after coming off that foot injury. Lebron would have packed it in for the season oh and MJ never left the Bulls to go to another team to win either.

I‘m looking forward to seeing this. LBJ still has/had incredible drive and fire. That’s not debateable and he is a student of the game. Few players in history have had the court vision and handle as LBJ at such a young age. At 6’8 240 back then. I don’t think he would have packed anything in either. Different eras. Jordan didn’t even have a cell phone some of his playing career, certainly not a smartphone, and no internet for a portion of it! Players didn’t defect in droves in FA either back then. Rivalries were embraced and marketed.
Personally I think MJ is greatest but it’s close. Also, could MJ get the Cavs as far as they did with teammates like Varejao, Daniel Gibson, Delly, Drew Gooden, etc.? Probably not, IMO.

It was much more damn competitive and like you said people didn't split in FA, they wanted to beat each other asses. You look at Boston, 76ers, Knicks, Pistons, Pacers, and even Cleveland were some tough, tough teams. the Eastern Conference was so much better back in the day too. The West had the Lakers, Portland, Jazz, and Phoenix. I also enjoyed the college game so much better when kids had to stay in school for 3 years. I know the game has changed but hopefully when they approve them to come out of high school again to the league they also tell them if you go to college minimum of 2 years before you can declare. Will make the game soooooo much better in both college and NBA, plus if you are a college coach you don't have to worry about your top player(s) bolting to the league after 1 year which makes recruiting a little bit easier.

For sure. Basketball as a whole was much more intense for a fan and the players for sure back then. Fewer distractions. Like you say, college teams could grow with the same players for three years which made the game more identifiable for fans. Just crazy to think that these current and future players have never seen Jordan play live on TV.

This was good again last night. Had to DVR and watched the first episode late last night then watched the second this morning while working (yea right). The Dennis Rodman stuff was really good but glad Phil had him under control for the most part. Also seems like MJ and Pip knew how to handle the situation with him too. When it was game time the guy busted his butt. In the second episode with how Doug Collins got canned and Phil got hired was interesting. I read some articles on that even after watching it and sounded like the move was justified. I liked Doug Collins a lot but if he did turn into a complete dilweed then it was justice to let him go and hire Phil. Phil's triangle offense really propelled Pip's career and like they said it got others involved without MJ having to carry the whole load. Looking forward to the next 3 Sunday's of this but will be sad when it's over. It's been a really, really good documentary so far and hopefully ESPN does more of these. My only complaint is wish it was on Friday or Saturday night so wouldn't have to worry about getting up early for work next day plus they really should have bleeped all the F bombs too.

I just started Ep. 4. This is SO great. Awesome music throughout too. So much good behind the scenes stuff with the coaches, management, etc. I had no idea of Pippen and Rodman’s stories going back to H.S. as well.

I think it's been fairly decent thus far - as someone who hasn't seen much of MJ in personal interviews, it's rather enlightening. I feel like I'm coming away from this thinking he's less of a jerk.

I didn't see another thread on the topic - anyone watching have thoughts?
I'm sort of surprised to hear Pippen and Grant are so upset about this whole thing. I didn't think either was portrayed in a bad light at all - most of the stuff was known, and otherwise, if anything it just cleared up some of the smaller details for me.
Pippen has been characterized as "livid" over the thing. I really don't see why. Unless I missed some stuff while working and in those moments Jordan was really bashing him.

Yeah I started one before it was to premier and we have some posts in that so that's why I moved it in there. You actually posted in that thread too, lol.

My mistake! lol Anyway, I thought it was well done. I just watched an HBO doc yesterday on Kareem, and I really do miss that era. All those guys were larger than life. I'm not even sure I hated anyone, even the ones I did, I sort of respected. Now, I feel like I end up hating half the players. Perhaps because of social media, and that you "know" them in a way you never did with these other players.

Jordan was so well spoken, sharp, and articulate as well. No social media really and he’s basically a kid when Nike decided to make him the man. He’s impressive in pressers as well. I have one episode left. I’m not sure about the whole Pippen uproar about it and where it’s coming from. Seems totally fair and he gets to express his side of the stories as well. The strangest issue for me is how little MJs wife and kids are shown and discussed. That might have been MJs call there.

He does come across as pretty thoughtful, even when it comes to the sh*tty part of his personality. Everyone got their chance to say it was hard to know him, that he wasn't really a "nice" person, so I'm not sure he comes off any worse than any of the people who are upset now. Probably worse in some ways.

Man thiz was a great documentary although I still gotta catch the last few episodes of it. MJ was a beast baby and ole LeBron wouldn't have been able to hack it back then with all the close guard and getting knocked cause he acts like a big wussyz at times with all the whining and crying he doez.
