Good stuff and good point about the skinny 4s. We did usually have a beefier 5 to throw out there in tandem. You might be right re: Quincy. Admittedly, it’s hard for me to get a read on him. I agree he was more offensive minded and multi-dimensional in H.S. He doesn’t look as agile frankly and is much stronger/heavy. He looks like more of a NBA type SG in H.S. Lean but chiseled frame. Now he looks like a shorter PF. Doesn’t look as nimble. Maybe it’s the groin as well and maybe he was simply needed to be the physical presence like you said. Or maybe his offensive game has just deteriorated with this huge step up in competition. We’ll see. The team likely won’t be much more physical so maybe he will be back in the same role 😳 I see a lot of Oshae in QG. A shorter PF at the college level but someone who could really polish himself in the G League and find a home in the NBA with some development. I’m sure he coordinated his surgery with the idea of being ready by training camp in mind. I doubt he stays in the program beyond next season. I’d gladly have him back, but he is already 21 like Oshae was in his soph year. Maybe he gives us a third year so he can showcase himself starting, but I dont expect it. Like Oshae, he lacks the ability to beat ACC level defenders off the bounce as it stands right now. He’s also not a great shooter off the dribble - and a shaky one even wide open with set feet. Oshae really shined with the Raptors G League squad. I could see QG having a similar trajectory - playing the 4 and developing into a 3 as a pro. Interesting! I see more of a Roberson. Even Brissett made some threes his frosh year (55 of them at 33%) and showed a much more refined game (not saying a lot I know) than Quincy, IMO. He had Boeheim’s trust for the most part and made some big plays late in the season. I was at the games in Dayton and Detroit. He had like 23/12 against ASU. Around 15 points in the next ones. JB was running plays for him. I don’t think Quincy was on that kind of level at all last year. Not even close. Maybe he improves a lot this season. Would be sweet!

Winning three games in five days?? So awesome. I think a lot of QG’s offensive struggles at the beginning of the season were above the shoulders. I think he expected to beast and feast because, well, he’s a beast. The jury is forever out on how much that groin injury slowed him down, but even considering that, i think of he (and Oshae) suffered from a string of bad luck when discussing outside shooting. He would have clear open looks and miss them, which led to second guessing, which only exasperated the problem. He wasn’t taking bad shots, they just weren’t falling. Oshae certainly hit more shots, but he was also playing with Frank Howard as a Frosh and not JG3 or alpha Buddy. What he will need to do to have the success Eli had is develop his ball handling. That was what took Eli from a third option to an NBA draft pick.

Love him or hate him (I am on the love side) Marek makes winning plays. On both sides of the ball as well. His frame leaves a lot to be desire but the kid plays HARD and SMART.
QG certainly has a decent looking stroke. I see the clunkiness and I agree he is probably not breaking anyone down off the dribble. But he does have a big frame and I think can be a good back to the basket who can step and hit a mid range guy.
