His shot has zero touch and is flatter than a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi left without the cap on for two weeks in 100 degree heat.

Regardless of how he looks, I would like to see him get some more run. He offers up a skill we need in that he's an athlete. He needs time and at this point we have a bunch of finished products that aren't getting it done.
I'm not even sure I see much upside right now, or for the rest of the year, but it's time to extend the leash at least a little. Like they did for Buddy his Frosh season when he was like 5-40 on threes to open his career. Push minutes and let's see what happens.

I was still holding out some hope for a bit that Benny would blossom by year's end - that seems less and less likely. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the rotation more all the same - especially when Jimmy has huge stretches of playing zero defense and sputtering on O.

Issue is Benny isnt even good defensively if you really watch, and barely boards. Its a shame but he just looks overly lost on both ends.

JB always plays every game like it’s game 7 of the NBA Finals (both a strength and weakness of his). This team has no margin for error so he’s going to go with the goofy Jimmy ISO stuff and his shooting. Unfortunately, we have seen too many untalented teams lately. In the grand scheme of things, playing your bench a little more and developing players probably wouldn’t have diminished the totality of what this team program is…a perpetual Bubble team with a very limited ceiling. JB just isn’t seeing the bigger picture clearly enough, IMO. We might still have Kadary and others if so.

Kadary got more than enough important minutes last year, especially down the stretch and would of continued to do so this year. Just about every team this time of the year has a tight rotation.
Jimmy is goofy and unorthodox for sure. But he offers WAY more than Benny does right now. Again I am not defending JB or the Boeheims because that is ultimately the problem that there is no one more capable on both ends than him. He would be a great swiss army knife 6th/7th man for 15-20 a game.

I like his scoring, he's crafty, and he's pretty money on open threes - but he's next level awful on defense, and even worse in transition D. How do you measure that? Benny is weak as fuck on offense, but defensively with increased minutes, may he have given us more in some way? Likely not, but I remain curious.

Kadary was the only guy who could get to the rim against good defenders. The offense clearly functioned better with him at PG. But, Kadary had no other option but to leave. Putting Joe off the ball would mean Buddy at SF and that’s no good. It was known Jimmy was coming long before the season was over and probably Cole too. Kadary knew he was screwed. The HC created this mess.

Yup. Kadary on any team that is NOT playing favorites leaves Joe in the dust. Joe is asked to back-up the SG/PG spots and the keys are handed over. Not how it works here though. First, because you can't impact Buddy's minutes. Second, because Joe is....I don't even know, Buddy's friend? Ridiculous. Benny's shot still looked flat yesterday, but good to see him hit some of those line drive jumpers.

He’s sort of this long strider without a ton of quickness/sudden-ness but good athleticism for sure. I’ve struggled to find a comparison for him. Definitely not the Carmelo-Coleman combo some rube on the other board came up with preseason. 🤦♂️

Benny can't be feeling great after his best game of the year is followed by this outing.

Benny can't be feeling great after his best game of the year is followed by this outing. He only played and got that long leash because pops knew the game was over by that first media TO. Pops didn’t want himself and Jimmy too embarrassed and Duke to put up 125. Benny could play freely with the game over and Jimmy (Cole too) done for the day.
