They were never happy and the ACC waited too long to try and up their financials.
ESPN is destroying the ACC by having them on such a bad deal. I said all this stuff for years.
Florida State will sue and make a financial settlement but they are gone and they won’t go to the SEC it will be the Big Ten.
Question now becomes which league does North Carolina want. They will get to choose and probably be able to bring Virginia with them wherever they want. This isn’t Big Ten vs. SEC anymore.
It’s Fox-Big Ten vs ESPN-SEC.
Fox is why the Big Ten got Washington and Oregon.
Also for the record their may not be a dumber poster on any Syracuse board than Kcsu.
The dude is an adult and says some of the dumbest most uneducated comments with the confidence of actually knowing anything when he doesn’t.
I just hope we didn’t wait to long for Fran Brown to make us relevant.
I think 24 x 2 conferences might be our only shot. Also we need Notre Dame to hold out so we can get our shit together and be relevant.
The Big Ten is at 18 and SEC at 16.
That leaves only a few seats left in the end game of the big 2.

Why would the Big 10 take FSU when they can be patient and wait for Miami? Fox would tell them so to take them from ESPN. Florida State is a state school and the Big Ten only has 2 private schools USC and Northwestern. Florida State makes sense as they are stupid and can likely be acquired in negotiating a better deal for the conference as they are more desperate. I honestly think Florida makes the most sense for the Big Ten but they wouldn’t leave the SEC. Florida State and Clemson likely will try to get into the Big Ten. North Carolina are the ones to watch though they have leverage as the flagship of the fastest growing state in NC.

It’s not like the Big 10 is actively avoiding private schools. Obviously USC is one of the most recent additions. They would take Notre Dame in a heartbeat. They probably would have taken us over Rutgers had we not lost our AAU accreditation. That’s part of why I think they’ll wait for Miami. I know AAU doesn’t seem as important to the Big 10 after Nebraska lost its accreditation, but the next non-AAU school they accept will be the first.

The money from any school settling would makeup for the loss of revenue from those schools and allow the ACC to backfill. We are gonna lose 3-4 schools but they will be replaced

If FSU fans think it’s going to be easier to make it to the playoffs if they join the big 10, I mean, lol.

Let’s be honest, quiet, whether it’s this year, or next year, or 10 years or 20 years Florida State bolting the ACC is pretty much inevitable.

If FSU fans think it’s going to be easier to make it to the playoffs if they join the big 10, I mean, lol. They will get paid though. Minnesota/Northwestern/Maryland/Rutgers are getting paid in the Big Ten. Money is why Florida State fans want out. They can’t afford to compete with the SEC/B1G money. Plus going 10-2 in the B1G or SEC is getting you in the 12 team playoff. Florida state has a lot of self imposed issues but they aren’t wrong on this one. The ACC screwed up and it’s part of the reason we are in the ACC honestly. If Nancy Cantor didn’t screw up academics ie the AAU and We didn’t hire Greg Robinson then Day is correct we are in the Big Ten now likely. If we hired Doug Marrone in 2005 we are in the Big Ten likely.

AAU is basically about research dollars and resources being spread among each institute. Having a medical school makes it easier to do research. You don’t have to have a medical school though. It’s why I kind of think we should’ve purchased upstate medical and slapped the Syracuse brand on it. Right now we’re close to getting back to AAU status but we need to get voted in by the members and that takes lobbying. The AAU schools use lobbying in DC to get federal funding so they can spread it among themselves again.

ESPN went all-in with the SEC.
ESPN lobbying by their talking heads and media played a part in Alabama making the CFB.
Alabama was not as dominant this year as years past. They barely beat Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M and South Florida with their backup QB.
Style points don’t matter for SEC teams because of media.
The fact is because ESPN was getting an SEC In the 4 team playoff then when Alabama beat Georgia it should have been a simple 1 for 1. The monkey wrench was Texas beat Alabama. The committee couldn’t put Alabama in without Texas so while Florida State was ahead of Texas the whole year to get the SEC in then Texas had to go in and the committee used an injury which was bullshit to justify Florida State out.
That basically told the ACC it was second class. The Florida State fanbase has to deal with Florida fans and the SEC crap daily. Unlike Clemson which is superior to South Carolina and thus can shut them up Florida State and Florida are equals and this stuff affects them.
Florida State feels under appreciated they are kinda right and jerks about how they complain.
Just pay the money and leave but they shouldn’t get out for free.

They’ll end up making about the same every year once you take the exit fees out and they’ll be up against tougher competition

Syracuse cashed checks for a decade instead of being serious. We spent the least on the Dome renovation, we played home games at MetLife for paychecks, we kept Greg Robinson an extra year, we hired Scott Shafer for cheap. Syracuse needs to win fast as this Florida State move will cause a chain reaction. North Carolina is safe and they can choose 1 partner pretty much wherever they want. Other ACC schools have plus and negatives. Like outside of Wake Forest and Boston College we might be the lowest school because we sat on mediocrity way too long. Boeheim did damage to basketball letting become this after thought nationally. We haven’t been ranked during conference play is a f#cking decade 2014. Football had moments but any serious school fires Dino after 2021 Covid 1-10 year. We kept him and barely got rid of him this year. We need to be serious if we want to be one of the schools in the end game or enjoy being a mid major which is what a lot of other schools do.

Notre Dame is the piece that will remain out there.
Florida State & North Carolina probably are the next best available piece. Clemson/Virginia/Duke/Miami/Virginia Tech next tier Then NC state/Pitt/Syracuse/Louisville/Georgia Tech next tier Boston College/Wake Forest bottom
