The only well rounded players on the team are Copeland and Brown. Now they have holes too, but at least they both do many things well on both offense and defense. At this point, those are the only “Syracuse level” starters we have IMO. Starling has flashed big time potential as a scorer…..but nothing else. In the past, a guy like that comes off the bench at Syracuse until he improves his weaknesses and eventually his time comes. He could get there - he is athletic enough to defend. Bell flat out can’t play defense in too many situations, and sucks at rebounding. Not a starter until he fixes it. We continue to need more guys that are good at more things. Hopefully Freeman comes in as one of those guys and we’ll have 3 of them. Maybe 4 if Starling gets there as a Junior. 4 would be better than 0, which is where we were in the losing season full of guys who were good at one thing and terrible at everything else. I’m hoping freeman is starting caliber. We’ve had waaaaay too many high caliber recruits end up as busts lately

Maybe MCW?

I cannot believe they were evaluated as 5 stars. We are due, with Freeman.

I don’t even remember what made Carey a talent. He was quick? That’s really all that I could see. Quick, fast, and looked like he could defend. Couldn’t shoot, pass, or dribble though. I couldn’t believe how crappy his handle was.

BTW, is PER still a thing? I thought it was as dead as Hollinger’s career.

I was very excited to see him play. I think he committed early because it felt like I had to wait forever to actually see him on campus and play. Anyway… I think he had a monster game in a win against UConn. So there’s that!

Yup, I remember that game. He had a monster tip dunk at some point in it. He left Cuse and really stunk it up at Vanderbilt for 2 years. He shot .298 from the field one of those years. Looks like he had a solid senior season at George Washington though. Averaged 10.1 points and 9.6 rebounds on 50% shooting.
