I could also see a Buddy or Jimmy Boeheim exploring coaching after their playing careers end Those people aren’t Syracuse fans they care about Boeheim and his people more than the program. GMac skipped steps when he got his start on the Syracuse bench. He didn’t coach anywhere before he became a grad assistant who got a fulltime assistant job because Bernie Fine got ESPN’d. GMac has coached only 1 year not under Jim Boeheim those people care about the nepo babies getting opportunities instead of just working on their own. Gerry isn’t going to hire a kid who just played this year as an assistant. If you want to be a coach you do the grad assistant route, then work up either thru connections as a recruiter or director of operations then move up. I want absolutely nothing to do with Jimmy Boeheim IIi as a coach. That kid honestly is my least liked SU player ever. Congrats to Buddy working his butt off to get this cup of coffee in the NBA. It’s funny how nobody yearns for Symir Torrence or Michael Gbjnije types never get brought up. People like Cherie think the program exists for the benefit of Jim Boeheim.

I will say it again: what attributes does Joe possess that make him coach material?

Jimmy's goofball shots from 10 feet out was the only enjoyable part of that season from me....drives left, throws up goofy-footed right handed shot! Maybe he makes it, maybe he doesn't - but it's always fun!!!!

Jimmy!” It made it funnier to me.

Looks like Andy Enfield will go from USC to SMU and USC will go after Jason Hart to be their next HC. We should do a home/home with USC one of the years we play at Cal or Stanford we could do a road game at USC like we will do a Stanford/Cal back to back next year.

GMac should make sure he gets everything promised to him in the contract. If Siena won’t put in the contract then he shouldn’t take a paycut and ruin his career. He needs to branch off but needs a job he can advance from.

Agreed, but taking over a 4-28 team that has a decent history that’s only 2 hours away from where you’ve spent the last 20 years…..it’s a great situation to advance from. Go .500 next year and it’s an enormous improvement and everyone loves you.

GMac officially gone. Can I say I don’t think Allen Griffin deserves the promotion to associate head coach. He has been at SU since 2017 and the program has not had 1 game as a ranked team during conference season been ranked the last 4 years at all. What the hell has he done to earn the promotion but just remain on staff. I hope Red looks for an outsider and is willingly to give them associate head coach to get the best candidate.
This program needs fresh blood. It’s why I am glad GMac is branching off. Hire the best assistant.
