We need to stop with idea that assistant coaches need to be former alums.
I appreciated Red last year going outside of the family in his addition to the staff.
Our program has a lot of problems. Talent, players playing out of position, and offensive/defensive sets.
We need to hire a good coach not just a recruiter. Red has to be able to recruit the portal and go to the events for AAU to get recruits.
Reading the article on GMac he did do okay with player development but honestly I would say our player development has been subpar.
It cited Michael Gbinije as an example of GMac’s skills. He definitely improved but he was a top 35 recruit from Duke and he graduated in 2016.
I don’t think our guards really have improved from freshman to seniors. They pretty stay the same.
I want our coaches to get better at developing guys and stop recruiting so many projects. Daddyball is gone but I can’t watch another year of Mintz. I was patience this year but if all we are losing is Copeland and Carey/Taylor that doesn’t make me optimistic about next year. Is it too much to expect the roster to be enjoyable again. It hasn’t been enjoyable since 2016. 2018 we had a good defensive team but the bigs couldn’t give any offense and Frank Howard was frustrating.

Give me the best offensive mind in the land that SU’s money can buy. Establish a system. It will recruit itself in terms of good players that fit.
No more stupid rosters that don’t make sense.
