I think we are overlooking how having a full pantry of scholarship guys, especially with how much PT is up for grabs, will benefit the team.
Without even caring about which 5 make the first team, the difference in competition that 5 will face in daily practice competition next year against the walk on team the guys have played against in practice the past two seasons will be night and day.
Guys on the backup team will be hungry to compete for PT every day in practice. They will push each other to be better everyday.

You're right, depth is super important. This year we're losing 3, maybe 4 starters, and possibly Sidibe. We are adding back 5 new players, but I think we're really only restocking the shelves. I don't think we're really going to be any deeper, and far less experienced.

The notion that the starting positions are up for grabs will likely enhance practices. In that respect practices should be more competitive, though I don't think we'll be any deeper. Competition is definitely a good thing. Hopefully it will make the guys play harder, and be hungrier to show what they can do. That alone should make practices more productive. When the starting lineup is fairly certain, it's got to be hard for the guys who have virtually no chance (like Bras last year). This season has so many new players and interchangeable parts which should inspire some tough competition.
I can see tons of different possibilities for starting lineups. We could still lose more players (Sidibe, Oshae, and possibly others), so the guys that want to start should work their tails off during the offseason. Heck, I could even see another addition depending on how things shake out. Strength and Conditioning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can bookmark this but if Buddy doesn't start next year I'll be totally shocked. If Buddy deserves to play he should play, but he should earn it just like everyone else. Let's hope... because that would surely disrupt chemistry.

New to the board, excited to join the banter.
On that note though, yes I do hope Buddy will only start if it is deserving. But if he plays like he did in the backend of the ACC schedule as well as post-season, he is deserving to do so. He certainly hurts us on defense. But if we have so much anger of these last couple of season, maybe we should aim to win games 83-80 instead of 53-50.

It's much more pleasing to the eye to watch ball movement and get up and down the court. I agree with your assessment of Buddy too. His defense is his greatest weakness. If he can contribute enough offensively to make up for the defense, then absolutely he should start. He certainly improved as the season progressed. I just want him to earn his time fairly so it doesn't harm team chemistry. Happy to have you on board. Keep posting!!!
