It’s very much a bummer, but at least the staff was aggressive with the opportunity. It’s unlucky to whiff out like that, but I don’t think we should think too much into it.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t done just yet.
Ugh. Such a bummer.

What we currently have at the center position on our roster is unacceptable. Period.

We are fine, we still have the toothpick Marek as a back-up for one more year.

Marek at the 5 is nauseating.

What we currently have at the center position on our roster is unacceptable. Period. Sid can make All-ACC (third team) if he keeps up the level of play he gave us down the stretch this year. He has all the tools to be a very quality big, and I think we finally saw what he can do when his legs are healthy and he’s correct above the shoulders. I have no idea where he’s living currently and if he has access to weights and a court, but a big part of his path to improvement is above the shoulders. He will be a senior, and if you’ve ever been a senior on a team, you know that feeling of being the vet who’s been there and that younger guys are counting on. It’s a good feeling, but comes with the responsibility of having to perform. With QB, at least we have proof that Boeheim understands we need a big beefy boy. We won’t have one in 2020, but we may soon. Big Mac Etienne and Bristol’s Beef are both still on the table and we might not get a shot at them if we landed QB. This sucks but we’re going in the right direction. A line of: JG3 BB Griff Doley QG could work in an emergency too

Love the optimism Walsh, but Sidibe all ACC third team??? He was terrible for about all but 3-4 games. We have NO ONE that can guard a physical Center. No one.
Also, JB didn’t all of a sudden realize we need beefy guys, we just missed on all of the guys we recruited the last several years. Why is that going to be any different in the next couple of years??? We have a system that doesn’t attract elite big men. They don’t want to play zone exclusively, run down corner threes, and never be fed in the post. We’re not getting Etienne or Donovan K. And I’m tired of getting my hopes up, and getting them dashed.

This sucks but we’re going in the right direction. A line of: JG3 BB Griff Doley QG could work in an emergency too I think that’s extreme optimism re: Sidibe. We’ll see. This offseason is an unusual one as well without being able to train at SU or elsewhere in a gym. A lot of his production came in garbage time too. Flipside garbage time scenarios in both UNC games. The Miami game near the end of the season was very concerning. Pitt he played pretty well. They have no size and aren’t good. Same with BC who played a bunch of walkons in the second game near the end of the season. The league is going to be better and Sidibe still will need to prove to me that he will stop bringing those god damn arms down every play. He still has a long way to go to hold his ground in the post, on screens, not get rooted out of position, etc. I acknowledge he improved for sure but we were talking some abysmal and bottom of the barrel in the P5 level of play beginning-middle of the season. It was unacceptable. Jury is still out on Sidibe, IMO.
