Losing to Bryant under 4 timeout 1st half. Pathetic. Girard is huge disappointment. He's terrible on D and for a dude who scored 8 zillion points he misses a ton of wide open 3s. I was expecting daggets when he was open.
Buddy still terrible on D as well.
Griffin is good. Shoots and rebounds well. Not shy.
Sidibe hurt again already.
Marek still misding bunnies and going up weak at the rim.
Down 6 with 1:21 left in 1st half. We might lose. To Bryant

Boeheim refuses to take Girard out and put in Kadary. Girard has done nothing positive

Girard currently 0-8 and we're under 12 minutes left in 2nd half and no Kadary for him in 2nd half

0-9. And now they aren't even guarding him behind the arc and he is passing up eide open 3s. If he is not going to take those what does he bring? Why the F is he still in

JB told Matt Park at halftime that we were out of shape cuz of the layoff and they were blowing by us. He has made ZERO subs in the 2nd half. Girard up to 0-11

This was rough anyway you slice it. These kids are still going at it I bet even if not in a pure practice format. Boeheim also was being called out after lol by the Bryant coach. Good for the coach. Boeheim kept wanting to play the game when it probably should’ve been cancelled. He didn’t think Bryant would almost win and pretty much outplay them most of the game. Some observations...
- Joe and Buddy. Both especially Joe have put on bad weight, IMO. Joe looks slow. Defensively they were horrendous. Wow. I don’t know why Kadary didn’t get more minutes in the 2H when Joe was dreadful. Just JB doing his thing I guess treating every game like a game 7 of a Finals series so developing a bench to use down the road goes out the window, lol.
- I like Marek but should we be needing him THIS much?! I don’t want him dribbling this much and tired of him getting packed at the rim. That being said, they need his playmaking. Just too much 1-on-1 (JB allows this too much IMO) with not very talented and quick players. How many minutes realistically would Marek get on say Michigan/Gonzaga/Louisville/Villanova? Not many.
Kadary looks pretty solid and steady. Not overly quick though same as with the whole team. It will be an issue. Breaking people down off the dribble and on defense with rotations/lateral quickness (again).
Griffin looks good. Not as fluid as Hughes but he’ll provide some extra scoring lost. Quincy is kinda meh again so far, ha.
Looks like a mediocre team again! What’s new.

We returned 4 starters... we have had more practice time as a team than most teams we’ll face. Losing two weeks of practice shouldn’t matter for the regular players. Interestingly, the two guys who played the best were Griffin and Richmond... the newbies.
Joe looked like a dough boy, fat and slow. It didn’t look like any of our guys put on proper weight (muscle weight). They looked like a bunch of guys who spent way too much time in the kitchen.
Sidibe looked bigger too, and to no surprise to me he got hurt. Pumping him up with protein and acid foods wasn’t and isn’t the answer. I’m guessing his injuries will continue and it’s a damn shame because he’s a hard working guy who’s listening to the wrong people regarding health. I could go on and on... but it’s not the place for it.
Also, Kadary needs to get in the second half. He played a damn near perfect first half when he was in. If JB doesn’t want to lose him like Goodine, he better give the guy some minutes. He also better put dough boy Joe in the gym, and run him hard. Because if this becomes a trend Kadary needs to start and Joe can be a sharp shooter off the bench.
Also... wtf is wrong with our bigs??? Can’t anyone play center when Sidibe is out besides Marek? Jesse and JBA know our system? Seriously??? Wtf did we bother recruiting them if they can’t even play well for 5-10 minutes. Frank gets a pass because he’s new and hasn’t practiced.
Anyhow, we’re damn lucky to win. Hardly impressed.

Brutal and very unencouraging first game no doubt. Defense showed no signs of progress. QG and Joe looks like same player. Couldn't understand lack of Kadary or really any subs at all in 2h when JB was complaining about conditioning at half. No way to sugarcoat any of it.
With that being said I am not ready to just throw the season in the trash yet. We've seen lots of P5 teams struggle early either in losses or ugly/close wins. There is definitely some credence to a weird off season and coming off a quarantine.
With that being said the clock is ticking and things better start to progress in the right direction.

I agree it’s to early to throw in the towel, but I have major concerns about this team, the conditioning, and our lack of an inside presence. This team has much work to do. One of our so called “great” bigs we recruited is going to have to step up and contribute with Sidibe out. They’re saying four weeks. I’m just going to say it, I think it’ll be longer. Sadly, I honestly think we’ll be lucky to ever see him contribute in a meaningful way in a Syracuse uniform again. Marek will fill in admirably at center against smaller less physical teams, but he’s not a center, and we will continue to get murdered against bigger stronger teams.

Could be worse. We could be Georgetown!
Or Washington and Hop losing to UC Riverside putting up 42 points...
I was on the bring back Hop train (even if it was never happening), but every season that goes by I am not sure that is the best move.

I was on the bring back Hop train (even if it was never happening), but every season that goes by I am not sure that is the best move. Yeah saw that Washington score and start to the season...yikes. For the record, I never wanted him at SU. I was mocked on the other board suggesting that the succession plan could be changed and not honored. Idiots like that Moqui mocked me saying that there was no way Hopkins’ contract in waiting couldn’t be broken without steep penalty lol. Unreal. Season certainly isn’t over but I’ve watched a ton of ball already this year. We don’t have the kinds of personnel in the backcourt and frontcourt as the other teams do. Griffin maybe. Buddy/Joe/Marek are good bench players on contending teams, frankly. A former SU PG target in Matt Coleman hits a game winner for Texas against UNC. Another punch in the gut lol. I’d be shocked if we beat Rutgers and I think every game including tonight will be a dogfight. The personnel just isn’t good enough to get us out of that 18-14 realm.
