Believe me, I am not idiot and I know things are not solved and all is well. We have the same problems we did before tip off yesterday, so I say this in jest. But I do feel good about the JB > Keats argument lol. Again, I wasn’t saying for Keats (or Brownell) to replace JB just that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that those guys or a handful of others could draw up better sets and get our shooters better looks.

Yes I get what you were saying although just respectfully disagreed.
Again my comment today was more in jest and irony that we played and beat Keats the same day.

I don’t think Keats is better than JB. I just don’t think JB can recruit anymore and the program is stale. We need to move on from JB, not because he can’t coach but because he can’t recruit anymore and he’s not relating well with the younger generation. The sooner we sever ties (as painful as it will be) the better off the program will be in the long run.
Can you argue that SU is better with JB today... perhaps. But it’s only delaying the inevitable. In the meantime our brand is sinking fast.
We may never find someone who can do the job JB did but that doesn’t mean he should coach until he dies. With that philosophy, Brett Favre would still be the QB for Green Bay. Sometimes it’s just over. It sucks when an era ends. But new eras can be built. Aaron Rodgers has done some pretty remarkable things at Green Bay. And yes I know it’s the wrong sport... but you get what I’m saying. You can move on from a superstar or great coach. We have to.

No you are 1000% right on that. A new coach is just about guaranteed to not have the amount of success JB had at cuse. Same with K at duke, roy at UNC, etc. And that does not mean you hold onto them forever,
My point is that with what JB can be as an actual coach and what I view as slightly improving talent base and potential recruiting improvement I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet that he is done. Our '21 season and '22 class will be the determining factor for me.

I hope you’re right. I wish I shared your optimism.
You do realize that we’re not in on any elite Centers in 2021 or 2022 except Klingan and he ain’t coming to Syracuse. Mulvey isn’t the beefy big man we need either.

I do realize that and it is not ideal. It is certainly a missing piece, but again just a piece.
If we can bring in 3-4 top 100 kids in '22 even if there is no true beef, it is at least a step in the right direction to improve the talent level. And I am not holding my breath on Huntley-Hatfield but he would certainly be a force in the middle even if not true "beef".

I think BHH was quoted in some article that he envisions himself as a Durant type?
Again, Keatts isn’t some chump and I’m not trading the two...again for the record. But, Keats had his best player out (again). They got just about any shot they wanted even with the 20 turnovers. He nearly beat us with his best player out and Funderburk out in the first game. Again, it’s not inconceivable to think he could draw up better stuff than Boeheim can schematically. The guy worked for Pitino for crying out loud. Jan 31 was actually the first time Boeheim ever beat Keatts.
