I cannot wait until these little born rich dickheads get out of their “sneakerhead” phase so the people who actually like sneakers can have it back. They completely ruined the culture.

Yeah, it seems like it's really gotten out of control. It's funny, I can even go look for pretty regular old school Vans that I used to have, and liked, and the prices are stupid. USED. Not even new. If they were new, I'd be like, I get it. You're just waiting for this one dude that wants some rando brown/blue Vans from 2012. But they're crap used ones.. I already have crap used ones - that's why I'm looking! They're just stupid Vans. Not even real sneakers!

I have 3 pairs of Kobe’s - because I actually like to play basketball and they’re great to play in. One of them was $70 back in 2017 or so. Now? I could make some money on those shoes even though they’re 6-7 years old and I used to hoop a lot in them. One of the pairs I wear to lift weights in all the time. thats corny to me though - I’d never profit off a man’s death and sell some sneakers that are phenomenal performance shoes. Gonna sell them to some rich dork who never even watched Kobe play and has never hooped in his life? Fuck outta here.

Part of why I went with a car that’s as good of a bet to go 300,000 miles as any, and maintains resale value better than most cars. It’s absurd prices up front for almost all these cars, so I can’t risk getting a lemon. If I’m paying that, I better get 10-15 mostly trouble free years out of it or a lot of money back if I sell it sooner. some people swear by leasing - get something nice and new for a more reasonable price every 3 years. I don’t want worry about miles limits though. Like….what if I want to drive it cross country on a whim or something?

Yeah, I just remember renting a house in college and not getting our security deposit back even though we cleaned the hell out of it and nothing was damaged or broken. Seemed capricious and arbitrary. Like, a license to rob us. The idea of renting or leasing anything that I need to function, over a long period of time has never sat well with me since.
