Like I said, we had talent after Hop left. Nothing was stopping Battle from following Hop to Washington or switching back to Michigan. Doesn’t matter how he did here. Doesn’t matter that QG left, or why. JB continued to bring in talent after Hop left. Dior Johnson was a commit as well. The drama surrounding him wasn’t JB’s fault and it sounds like it was JB’s decision to cut bait. If you think we’ve had enough talent the last 5 years I can’t be bothered to debate anymore on this. Jim Boeheim was more interested in coaching a team he liked than trying to fix the roster problems. Talent hasn’t been good enough. Since 2016 only 1 player has been drafted in the NBA draft and that is Elijah Hughes in the 2nd roun. When Syracuse was humming 10-12 years ago we went like 5 years in a row with a first round NBA draft pick. Talent has been a major problem. When Syracuse was good somebody like Buddy would have been the 3rd best player on the team. Talent has been a major problem. First year since Jim Boeheim got fired we got our highest recruit in 10 years. Hopefully Red continues upping the talent. Talent has been the biggest problem for basketball and football. Where did I say we’ve had enough talent? If you can’t be bothered with attention to detail and nuance, perhaps I’m the one who shouldn't be bothered with this debate anymore. Your arguments should be 100% factual and I will continue to correct the record as necessary.

I think it’s generally been true that our best player would’ve been a number 2 or 3 guy on good Syracuse teams. We had that run of 1st rounders almost every year: Greene, Flynn, Johnson, Waiters, Melo, MCW, Ennis, McCullough….and then basically nothing since. Tyler Lydon was a first round pick.

And a second rounder(Grant) had the best career. amazing we haven’t had one since. Gotta be the longest drought since….i don’t even know. The 1960s?

Tyler Lydon was a first round pick. Yeah, forgot him. Plus Malachi in ‘16. So, 08-17 we had a nice run of first rounders almost every year(and 2 of them in 2012). And a second rounder(Grant) had the best career. amazing we haven’t had one since. Gotta be the longest drought since….i don’t even know. The 1960s? So yeah, there was a drop off in both the quality and quantity of talent under JB. My only issue with the criticism is when people try to make it out to be one thing and one thing only. For some, it was Daddyball. For others, sanctions. You also have people blaming the ACC or the zone or JB’s age. Whichever reason they give, that’s the only reason they’ll accept. In reality, it’s all of those things. And others. Hop leaving was a factor. Location was a factor. Outdated facilities. The list goes on. The reality of the situation is we had a perfect storm of events that led us to this point.

It’s the players, not the system. Red went over his offensive philosophy on a recent podcast. Our offensive offense starts with our point guard pounding the ball.

More addition by subtraction. Too many people on the other board can’t grasp that. I’m pretty much done with the other board. The mods are out of control and the majority of the posters aren’t too far behind. We beat UNC and it’s a program-defining win. We lose to Georgia Tech and Red’s first season is a bust. People are creating narratives where Brown and Copeland transfer, and it’s all just for clicks. Other than talking about the NBA and defending Israel, I have little to no interest in what’s going on over there.

The overall results this year have been successful it’s just our fanbase should be ragging upset with how things transpired the previous 5 years. People like you who are bread and butter season tickets holders have been bled to sustain the program with little to show for it. . It damaged the program. Why the hell are we honoring Boeheim after less than a year he retired. It should have been done last year or waited a little bit. Now we are using it to fill the arena and fundraise that night. So the cto types can have their hors d’oeuvres, elitist fundraising nights. br] Syracuse women’s basketball was like this year’s mens team. It won games and made the NIT. After the program was gutted. This year they are top 25. Men’s team needs to be like the women’s team next year. I am patience with Red but I just want to be relevant for a couple of seasons in a row.

The alternatives people wanted as HC are doing worse than Red at other schools.

The alternatives people wanted as HC are doing worse than Red at other schools. When Mayo replaced Belichick after he got fired has blown up the coaching staff. It’s not Belichick’s organization anymore. When JB was replaced by Red he kept the same coaching staff and thankfully added an outsider. When Griffin went after Dean Francis it told his noise was heard by Boeheim and Griffin showed what he is. Dean may have trolled but he is generally on topic. Boeheim is not gone in that office. Ask Dasher he knows. Red is in control but JB isn’t dead. I agree that the alternatives may not have been attractive and in general college coaches aren’t coaches anymore. They are fundraisers and general managers. Coaching doesn’t really matter that much anymore. It’s recruiting and fundraising. Red may be good at it but he better be a tournament team next year. 3 years in a row no tournament is insane. It can’t go 4 years. My problems are Boeheim destroyed the program and now the mess has to be cleaned up. He pissed off donors who aren’t cto or that board. I know a car dealer in the area donor who was giving a good amount of money and others who were burned by JB. I want humility from Boeheim. He is an arrogant ahole which is why I am down on him. Red is getting shit because JB didn’t take it and the new guy doesn’t have the resume JB could throw back. Red has done a better job this year than of the previous 5 it’s just because frustration was never allowed till JB kept opening his mouth last year people are letting it out now. Trust me as a Patriots fan Belichick even when he won 6 SBs was getting shit for everything and when he got fired the fanbase didn’t shit on anymore and have rallied to the next guy. I am in the minority and have become pissed at Kraft for his shit. Note I was WAY ahead of the curve on Red Sox ownership and saw them for what they were and now fans are on them. Boeheim needs to come out and say I love Syracuse fans I am sorry I decided to stay longer to coach my kids but it was worth it for me and my wife but I am sorry for what happened. He won’t do that. So his successor is having to eat his shit until we win.

He’s been on the road most of the season doing other ACC games. If JB was still involved JJ wouldn’t be here and Freeman wouldn’t be coming. I like Dean, but I can form my own opinion. Griffin is a moron for engaging fans. That’s on him. Nobody else. This has been a successful year for Red. He’s already got us involved with more talent than we’ve been involved with since Hop left. The hyper emotional posts after every loss tying everything to Boeheim is ridiculous. The staff is more engaged than ever with each other. It’s not one man running everything. Time to move on.

Since you brought it up…I’ve noticed that - over the last 5-10 years - you’ve become overly critical of the sports teams you follow, ownership/management in particular. Red Sox, Patriots, Syracuse…it’s the same theme. You identify the culprit and blame them for everything. I’m not saying your criticism is illegitimate. Some of it is accurate and sincere. That said, a lot of it is attacking “the man” over anything that goes wrong. You might say it’s all a coincidence. I’m noticing a pattern. Take it or leave it.

That said, a lot of it is attacking “the man” over anything that goes wrong. You might say it’s all a coincidence. I’m noticing a pattern. Take it or leave it. Celtics/Bruins I root for and have no problems. They contend and spend can’t ask for more. Patriots I love and still support. They gave me a lifetime of winning in 20 years. I love Belichick but he had 4 years post Brady and he failed. 4 years was a fair time. I didn’t call for him to be fired but I understood the move and didn’t push back against it. I don’t like how Bob Kraft is trying to rewrite history in a bid for him to make the HOF to blame everything on Belichick that has gone wrong. Kraft is playing like a politician. Belichick has been loyal and said nothing but Kraft is pissing fans off with his orchestring Media leaks and this Apple documentary that was produced by him that makes him look good and blames everything on Belichick. Fans aren’t morons. Belichick has been quiet and Kraft shouldn’t be attacking him for his own HOF bid which he is. For that I will call the organization out but I understood the decision to move and support the organization and have no problems. I Called out the Red Sox when they traded Mookie Betts. I realized before Dasher and Red sox fans that John Henry was a piece of shit who only cares about money. He has a top 5 revenue MLB team in the Red Sox and since 2020 has treated them like they are the KC Royals. I hammered Henry where fans are lemmings and don’t see what the owners are doing. I did and the organization has finished in last place 3 of the last 4 years and are tanking this season. Finally the fans this past offseason are seeing what I was saying years ago because I am not going to blind support my teams I am going to see what they are doing and if they are wrong I will call them out. Which leads to Syracuse basketball. I supported SU football from 2007-2022 with season tickets because it’s the right thing to do when I can’t go. Syracuse basketball has been mismanaged for a decade. Boeheim never changed. He kept recruiting weak rosters, no adjustments to coaching staff, philosophy or having well rounded rosters while Boeheim arrogantly kept selling the fanbase fake optimism. To the point JB sez things was just accepted. He should have retired if he didn’t want to do the job. He didn’t do the job and he wouldn’t retire and he would gaslight the fanbase so his sons could have pizza and chipwich parties. Where people like 0307 are shilling out thousand of a dollars a year and this fanbase did as well while he didn’t work hard enough. Plus Boeheim is an ahole. He isn’t nice. His arrogance turned me off of him. I just want an enjoyable relevant program. Red is on his way but I am not going to let Joyce and friends let me think everything is fine in Camelot when the kingdom was decaying and elites were fine with there meals. That is it. I am loyal to my teams but I won’t fake everything is fine. I was right on Henry and I believe I am right papa Chipwich.
