I mean you tell Chris Bell to kick rocks and give Maliq all of his money. You can find an above average shooter who actually plays basketball to come off the bench in place of Chris Bell. The roster management is just fucking terrible. Yeah. And with all the 2 guards we have, you could easily play a 3 guard lineup often, if Bell was gone. Any one of those guards can rebound better than Bell has. Also, if Westry is healthy and comes anywhere near living up to his press clippings, he’ll be the better player than Bell. Certainly not going to count on it after 2 years of injuries, but it’s possible. If it’s a Brown vs. Bell situation, I take Brown 100 times out of 100 without a second of hesitation.

The guy isn’t leaving because he is getting a bigger role here than anywhere else and is getting NIL here which will place in him near top on our team. He is getting praised for doing what is in his best interest. It’s crazy. Bell over Brown is essentially what we are doing. I will say talking with Dasher he was right that Lampkin will make Bell on offense. Lampkin can get buckets in the post and if he gets doubled then Bell will get open looks which he can make but our D is going to suck.

It’s shaping up to where we have to hope we can be potent enough offensively to have a high enough ceiling to knock off some good teams on nights that we’re rolling, and get into the tournament. And from there, need to luck into matchups with teams that can’t shoot, and…….i hate to say this……go 2/3 zone against them. *ducks*

I don’t get why our fans want to pretend and not just be honest. Like I want to be positive but can we be objective and call it the way it is. We pretend reality isn’t reality. Bell appreciation thread? Like are we serious? The dude has it the way you said it. I just hope the Roc Nation affiliation has no reasoning as to why Red loves him. His defense is so bad it can’t be worse. Davis commitment was huge because it gave us another forward so if he suck’s defensively we can bench him. The problem is the other forward we are putting all our eggs with and he needs to show it.

The problem was JB was insistent on 100% zone and he gaslight the simps into believing it couldn’t be taught in practice to be man to man as well. Zone with these defensive liabilities isn’t a bad weapon to have if we need. It’s just need to be able to man to man as well. We will score points but Lampkin helps when we go cold to be able to throw the ball to him and let him score or pass for shots. We haven’t had that since Rak.

I will say this: we all saw the Tyler Lydon at the 3 experiment and it flopped. Freeman or Brown likely would’ve too.
But could you go token starter at the 3, and quickly adjust from there if the starter label truly mattered like many are saying it did? JB played token starters to keep promises for years. Heck, even Rick Jackson didn’t play a lot of PF in 2010. He started at the 4, but played most of his minutes at the 5, while Johnson and Joseph got most of the forward minutes.
Couldn’t we have started Brown and Freeman, but then end up with Freeman playing most of his minutes at the 4, and Brown splitting his minutes between the 4 and 5?

Yet we had morons spinning this as not that big of a loss. Brown is a unicorn who can defend multiple spots and not command a lot of shots to get offense. It’s not Red’s fault but it’s a bad look. He is exactly that glue piece a team like Duke will need in March. Duke cleared multiple players to get Brown. In one sense I will give our coaches Boeheim and GMac for finding Brown but we need to fix our NIL. I am glad Dasher is leading the charge as I told him I was contacted on Tuesday this week. We need people like him who want to help the NiL we have. Alsacs: We need to fix our NIL. Also Alsacs: I refuse to contribute to our NIL.

So that sort of stuff doesn't bother me. We all need some hope. I don't think it's worth it to shit on those types. What bugs me is the rush to suggest if you aren't accepting the spin that you are bad fan of some sort. The fact that Mack so easily went to GTown should have been red flag #1. Mack was a Team Takeover guy. BS was supposed to be a TT-to-Syr vehicle. I don't even think we got a visit. And if you brought that up at the time, you are a shithead and hater. "YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN RED!" Ok...So now you spin to ACTUALLY the #1 target was Leffew. Ok, fine. Now? Now it's we don't have the money. OK. Great. Again, all may be true to a degree. But the bottom line is we lost Maliq and we didnt get a PG yet.....and, oh by the way, we didn't go to the tourney last year...and oh yeah, we haven't been in the tourney in 3 years. The suggestion that there is an overreaction of ANY sort is fucking comical. At what point can we suggest HEY! This might be bad! should add, as I've said repeatedly, there will be good solid PGs in the portal after Leffew goes whenever he goes. Maybe even one that can defend?

Thanks for making me feel like my 2500 really makes the difference. Instead of just going after whales the program ignores small donations. We have a large fanbase. Sorry I bring shit up. You got a nerve with this one.

Maybe work on fixing that rather than relying on one defense?

I hope Maliq has the worst season in basketball history, and that Lumpkin plants a shoulder into his bird chest on the first play of the game, gets position, and dunks on him.

Maliq official to Duke.
I get players are going to be year to year now but man it sucks losing this kid to Duke. He was our best player. Duke wouldn’t take Judah Mintz if he was available. They saw what versatility Brown could bring to the front court and let a bunch of highly rated players on their current roster leave to pursue Maliq. I liked Maliq but I can’t root for his team to be successful. The kid made a good decision for himself but should be dead to Syracuse fans for this.
I am going to say this if the choices are 30 mpg of Maliq Brown or 30 mpg of Donnie Freeman next year I would rather have Maliq as we suck at roster building and Brown could do more. We didn’t ask him to score because Judah and JJ had to get their shots.
