K Clark has been getting so much run for UVA this year and I am 100% sure that JG3 is better than this shrimp right now.
Girard/HW/Goodine Carey/Buddy/Goodine EH/QG MD/QG/Brasswell JBA/Sidibe/Edwards
This assumes Brissett is gone. Would love to see another true PG or PG big picked up and Buddy doing the move for the team and using his dad’s scholly to open up a spot.
Thoughts?

I think shooting translates no matter what level you play at. I also think he has a good enough handle. But I'm not sold on him being a PG at this level in year one. In AAU he played off the ball against the top competition. Furthermore, if we had JG3 and Buddy at the top of our zone we'll be in BIG trouble defensively. That said, I think JG3 can be a very good player down the line. I like his grit, his IQ, his leadership skills and his swagger. I do have MAJOR concerns about how JB will coach him. JG3 has never seen a shot he didn't like. He's going to need a long leash and patience by JB. I do agree that we need another BIG (a hell of a lot beefier than Jesse) and another point guard would be helpful because all of our candidates for the position have question marks (Washington hasn't played in almost 2 years, Carey struggled, and Goodine was not a PG in high school). Lots of question marks. I think it's going to be a LONG season.

Not to spoil the Dean podcast and his take, but his thing about getting a PG was needing a “quarterback for the offense, a floor general” JG3 was a literal quarterback, he is an intangible leader. Not trying to knock Jalen, but he doesn’t seem like the same type of general, vocal leader, intangible type. From watchig him this year, he’s not the type to run an offense and make the right pass. Everything we’ve about him is that he’s better off the ball. Idk what y’alls expierence playing football is, but QBs need to be able to intake a lot more information than a PG. They need to know what all 11 players are doing. If we want fluid offense, I’d be more confident in JG3 running it than Jalen. So let’s play to Jalen’s strenths and play him off ball. He can be the drive and disher who creates space and collapses the D for JG3 and EH to get open knock down shots. Bringing Buddy in as a bench weapon would make him so kuch more effective. Compare how he played v ACC comp with limited minutes to how he played v Baylor with 30+ min. He lost his legs, and with them his shot. He is most effective in spurts. Dean is right: we need a QB, a general. That guy is JG3. He is a literal champion QB. With the extra practices and Italy tour I believe he will be ready. It would take a lot of pressure off Jalen, and there are few athletes with the composure and natural leadership of JG3. Even if rhings get rocky his freshman year, give him the reps to be better going forward. I have no idea why people are so sure of Jalen as a point guard. Let’s not push him into something he isn’t comfortable doing

ACC ball is a HUGE step up from the level of competition JG3 is used to playing against.

The problem with all the guards that we currently have and coming in is that they have never played PG. That is the problem and the ole man is too blind to go out and get a true PG. Girard I believe would have problems being a PG against ACC competition. I think the kid is a heckuva a player but he wasn't playing against top notch players in high school. He's not going to get to jack 20-25 shots a game either. I'm not sure if Carey will make the change or not but I'm not holding my breath. It could be a bad year next year.
