Now that it appears our roster is set going into next season I've predicted the starting lineup to start the season, the starting lineup by the end of the season and the reason for the changes. Guerrier comes ready to contribute, and is a stud.
Beginning of the season:
Carey PG Boeheim SG Hughes SF Brisset PF Dolejaz C Top Bench Players: Guerrier, Goodine, Ajak and JG3
End of Season Lineup:
Goodine PG Boeheim SG Guerrier SF Brisset PF Ajak C Top Bench Players: Hughes, Dolejaz, JG3 and Braswell
Why: We will struggle on defense with the opening lineup, and Carey may continue to struggle at point guard (I can see him transferring) . Dolejaz can't man the middle against the good/physical teams, and JBA is forced to start before he's truly ready. Hughes becomes our 6th man because Guerrier is so good he has to start. This creates some issues because many will think Hughes should play at the 2 and Buddy should come off the bench. But of course JB will have none of it because well, ya know JB is always (cough cough) objective when it comes to his son. Watch the drama unfold.
I think JG3 will find minutes. Edwards will get some minutes against less physical teams. Notice I've left Sidibe off both lineups. I don't think he's contributing much at all if he stays. He can give 5 fouls and play very limited minutes perhaps. I'm not sure it's realistic to expect much from Washington next season.
There ya have it... curious what you guys think. What do you predict? It's the most boring time of the year... gotta write something.

This scenario is possible. I have no freaking idea, honestly. The freshmen guards we have brought in recently just have not been able to do anything their first year of ball here. I don’t know why this is the trend. But, Kaleb Joseph, Jalen Carey, etc., were just overwhelmed. Couldn’t even bring the ball up the floor, lol. High talents and better prospects at the time than Goodine and Girard. So, we’ll see, Goodine is really scrawny as well so I worry about him being able to contribute much early on which puts even more pressure on Carey to perform well which is a BIG question mark. No clue if he’ll make it.
This team still doesn’t mesh well. Odd parts. I hope Guerrier is ready simply because his body seems ready for college ball. Hopefully he has a knack for rebounding and doesn’t fall in love with threes and launching jumpers as well.
I don’t see why Hughes can’t play at the 2 and start there. He is quicker than Buddy and a better ballhandler though neither are very good in that regard. You can’t have Hughes at the 3. He’s too undersized and gives you nothing on the glass. Syracuse needs a rebounder at the 3. The much maligned Paul Harris could still rebound despite his lack of height. I like Buddy as an instant offense shooter off the bench. That’s perfect for him, IMO. He shouldn’t be playing 30 mpg.
No clue about Sidibe. I doubt Edwards will see the floor. Might need to hope that Ajak exceeds expectations and can come in and ball right away especially if Sidibe has DaJuan Coleman-like chronic knee/leg problems. If Ajak is OK, Oshae comes back, and Guerrier can start at the 3 then we might be OK down there on the frontline.
Marek shouldn’t be a starter or 30 mpg player either. Our teams have been SO lacking talent that Dolezaj has been seeing the floor more than he should. Not that he can’t but he’s just an odd/unique player. Kind of a WD-40 guy as Steve Lavin says. Doesn’t do anything great except maybe pass but does ok in a lot of things. But his body still needs a TON of work. Still won’t give you enough offense.
I still see this team as an NIT/First Four type. Duke will reload, UNC has players coming in and Roy and his staff get these dudes ready to ball. Louisville is bringing in a HUGE class. UVA will be a problem even if some of Guy/Jerome/Hunter leave. Florida State will still have athletes and more physical guys. Miami should be a lot better than this paat season. I think at one point they had 3 or 4 starters out due to injury.

Definitely hard to predict with so many unproven players on the team. The trip to Italy will help JB learn what he has in game situations which won't count against our record. That's a huge benefit.
I'm guessing one if not more will be unhappy by seasons end with playing time. I'm guessing Braswell, and Dolejaz. I can also see JG3 not liking being given a red light, as he's used to shooting anything he wants.
I 100% agree that Hughes may have to play the 2 if Guerrier needs time at the 3. But like I said, I think JB plans to start Buddy and keep him there. I can see issues with all of the guards we have. Someone isn't going to be happy.
Sidibe has some skills but I'm not convinced we will ever see them materialize. It's a shame. Maybe he can play spot minutes, and do ok? Who knows, maybe the staff will actually get him the real help he needs, a nutritionist and naturopath to deal with the inflammatory condition. I'd love to see that because Sidibe has skills, and deserves a chance to showcase them.
I also agree on Dolejaz, in that he gives all out effort, and is a high IQ player, but he's too damn skinny. It's funny, for a guy with a high IQ on the court, who aspires to play professionally, why can't he hit the weight room? And what in the heck is he doing smoking? He's not a pro, here or in Europe unless he gets in much better shape and gets stronger.
Time will tell... We've got a LONG wait.
