Great post Sobe. The part that concerns me is what you said about us being so soft. We’re a physically weak team. It won’t matter if our players are skilled and can shoot. If we’re outweighed at nearly every position on the court, we will struggle to finish at the rim. We’ll be heaving up threes and living and dying with that game. This allows physical teams to play us tighter on the perimeter, knowing that if a guy is actually able to blow by, there will be someone bigger and stronger at the rim to negate the inside. Last year we had a strong go to guy with Battle who could create his own shot. This year our go to guy is Hughes who has a beautiful stroke, but no blow by ability against tight pressure. Maybe Hughes has improved that part of his game. Time will tell...
I hope to be wrong, but I can see us getting eaten alive by the stronger P5 teams. We were a bubble team last season, and now we have far less experience, and perhaps even less strength. I like this group of guys but we need some beef and we’re very young. It’ll be quite interesting to watch. Hopefully they can get stronger and improve more quickly than expected.
