Who knows... it wouldn’t be the first time a recruit used a school. Remember the most recent? How did that turn out for Mr. Tucker? Of all the stuff I have read about recruits for the 35 + years I have been a fan I have never read anything like what Mr. Jackson said about his sons visit. I believe his words are legit and when he talked about the family atmosphere is is telling the truth. I don’t know why this recruitment made me think of Tremont Waters. Remember when he went around saying that he had schools interested in him that weren’t? I know this recruitment is totally different from the Waters case but it’s definitely proof that kids/parents will go to extremes to try to manipulate teams, and negotiate. Side note: Tremont Waters proved he could play. Wish we had recruited him. Definitely agree with your take on the zone Rusty. If Duke plays OUR zone it’s great. We play it, and it’s boring, stale or bad. I wish it wasn’t such an issue with recruits but for some reason it is.

Interesting take on Waters. That kid was definitely full of himself, and was looking to score. He ultimately bet on himself and had one heck of a year at LSU. Not sure I’d compare the two recruitments at all, but you make a point...kids/parents will resort to just about anything these days. I think Kai Jones may have played us before he went to Texas. I don’t think his interest was ever genuine. It definitely happens.

Are we sure about this re: Waters? I heard his father was pretty interested in his son going to SU. He contacted the staff and Boeheim but was told his son wasn’t a zone fit. Unreal especially having to endure more Frank Howard (and Carey) at PG.

Unreal especially having to endure more Frank Howard (and Carey) at PG. You’re right. But even after SU said he wasn’t a zone fit, the Waters family trumped up the interest, and said he’d received offers that he never did, including Syracuse. I thought it would bite him in the ass, but he proved everyone wrong. I suspect what tomcat was trying to say is that his family tried to make it look like there was mutual interest when there wasn’t. Totally different situation. But I guess it speaks to how crazy recruiting can get. Recruits and parents will make shit up if it can help their cause. So it’s definitely possible that the Jacksons could make up the interest in SU, and concoct a story about loving SU, the zone fit, etc to entice Kentucky to offer him more. Definitely a possibility.

Could be. Bag or no bag I don’t think Calipari is worried about Boeheim and Syracuse. Neither is Oats. Oats’ UB team made us look like a JV squad last season and, IMO, they outplayed us the season before in a L. Simply from a style of play and system standpoint we have a lot going against us. Oats is the guy I wanted to succeed JB. He’s a good up and coming coach. I can see the attraction of Alabama. Hop is the guy that should have been the coach right plain and simple, but I agree with that option is off the table and we'll have to see what the future brings 3 years from now.

Man I hope you’re wrong about Isaiah. He and his Dad need to win some Emmy awards or something if they’re faking their interest.

Much different than it used to be. Hopefully the interest is genuine. I’d be very very happy to have him at Syracuse.

Kentucky is not landing Isaiah Todd because he eliminated them from consideration today. I suspect this means Kentucky will go all out to land Isaiah Jackson. 💰💰💰

I really really want to get Isaiah. His Dad is right, he could be a really amazing defender in our zone. He’s going to make the NBA anyway, maybe faster at SU because of playing time. I hope he can realize this.

There seems to be a lot of things that might be working in our favor with Isaiah. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure hes not at the top of their board and have prioritized others more. Rumblings of a possible big that might reclass (Paolo Banchero) and they are now seen as the leader for Cade Cunningham. Also still going hard after Kuminga and Brown. This might be a cuse/bama showdown. JB gotta out recruit Oats and bring this 5 star stud to the Dome! I'm not saying UK is out of it by any means, but it seems like hes down the list of guys they want and hopefully him and his parents can see that.

But Like Dean said in one of his last few pods, age is kind of killing JB right now and other coach's are using that (especially that twirp Hurley)

But Like Dean said in one of his last few pods, age is kind of killing JB right now and other coach's are using that (especially that twirp Hurley) I would think this is more of a factor for the program type players than a likely one and done. No? A kid that’s only playing college basketball for a year shouldn’t care what age JB is. A kid that’s likely staying 3-4 years wants to know who his coach will be for the duration of their college experience. That’s why I’ve said we’re hurting and it won’t get easier until JB leaves... we’re missing on the 5 star guys and the four star/high three star guys want security at the head coach position.
