The narrative on whether our NIL is strong or not seems to change often.
Last year initially we were screwed, then it was “no, actually we’re in good shape”, and now we’re screwed again.
I’m confused.

I’m confused. Whatever fits the narrative? It went from “we had the insane money for Jesse but got sick of his games and decided he wasn’t worth it” to “St. Joes can compete with us in NIL.” ummm….what? Given the amount of revenue the SU b-ball program continues to generate, the brand, and the size of the fanbase, it’s hard to believe we can’t be top notch in NIL and buy our way back into relevance. And yeah, I know the schools “can’t fund NIL”……I say figure it out though. It’s the damn Wild West and nobody cares.

I’m confused. I don’t think it’s that we’re screwed. It sounds more like we’re thrifty. Not going to overpay and set a precedent.

If an additional $200K is the difference between getting a starting caliber point guard or coming up empty, we have to go for it (precedent or no precedent). If we don’t pony up for a point guard over a measly 200K, and miss the tournament AGAIN, it is unacceptable and inexcusable.

Any program that lets $200K stand in the way between fielding a team that can compete, you can no longer say you’re a player in college basketball whether we get another player or not . Syracuse and Red swing and miss here, it won’t be pretty.

If we aren’t adding anyone else, then Chance Westry better be MCW or Michael Gbinije.

Field a tournament team and pony up or I’m done.

I go watch D-3 ball when I just want to catch a game and not really care about the outcome. If that’s what this is going to be, then the hell with it.

I don’t know. It’s a combo of things, for me. Being in mediocre hell year after year after year, seeing players and fans basically cheerlead this move as if it’s accepted that we’re Duke’s bitch. New team every year. No rivalries. Uncompetitive kids who don’t care if they win. It’s just like those stupid AAU tournaments where you play 6 games in a weekend and nobody gives a rats ass who wins. It’s just to “showcase your bag” or some corny selfish shit. Shit’s got all the intensity and spark of a pickup run at this point.

I’ll reserve judgement for when the team is complete; our future Pg may not have even entered the portal yet.
At least lax won today…so that’s something.
