From the Ohio area but maybe Griff has some connections. Has 2 years left and I would take him at this point.

His game is a lot like Hughes. He’s more instinctual. Hughes is more athletic but this kid looks slightly taller. I’d take him for sure. Does he want to play all-Zone?

Anyone got any updates on the cat. Like sobe says above would be a sweetz replacement for Eli and then get the Tape man in the middle.

The problem is that he hasn’t played in 2 years basically because of a serious injury. We don’t know what kind of player he will be now. Big gamble but we’re desperate.

I’m kind of hoping Kadary is ready because I think he’s capable of playing guard or small forward. Towns is a huge question mark, and risk. Not saying I wouldn’t take him, but I think expecting a guy who hasn’t played in two years to not only start but replace our most productive player is kind of crazy.

Also have heard he's friends of Matt Moyer so put that nail in the coffin too.

Shit. Didn’t know so many other schools are involved. They are all better programs currently. Sucks.

We sure as shit need one of him or tape, or if by a miracle both. This has probably been the least talented team we have had in years. The scary part is by all accounts I think this group has overachieved. (A down ACC helped but I do think they are a much better team now than at the Barclays center).
I have maintained I do think JB can still really coach, and I think this team is proof of that. Bad ACC or not to still finish in the top portion of the conference with our roster is impressive. But our talent level has been on a steady decline for the past 5 years. We have one top 50 player on the roster and it is jalen carey...
So again I firmly believe he can still really coach, but can he recruit? Well it appears for 2022 (for now) he can but that leaves us still pretty barren until then. Recruiting is half the battle if not more realistically and we do not pick up there we are headed for more seasons where our absolute ceiling is a bubble team.

I'm not thrilled with his coaching when it comes to his son and Girard at times. Those two can stink up the joint on both ends, especially the D and still stay in the game where Goodine and HW barely can get any playing time, then if they make one little mistake it's time to yank them out and put one of the horrible defenders back in. Still think Jesse should have gotten more run this year too and why not. He couldn't have done any worse than Marek in the middle, would have give him the time to develop for next year.

I would of liked to of seen BG more for sure. HW seems like a great a kid and teammate who has been through a ton, but he really has no place being on the floor for the most part. He is only here after the Quade debacle. He can initiate the offense I suppose but I would much rather let JG3 have every minute of growing pains and bad play in his freshman year than give minutes to Howard who will most likely be gone.
Yes there are obviously things would of liked to see slightly differently. Just saying overall from a talent perspective this team does not have much (falls on JB), but they did slightly overachieve (to JB's credit). Now again I am not sitting here clamoring to through a parade for the guy. When over achieving means being on the NIT bubble you have some SERIOUS issues especially when it comes in the middle of 5 years of mediocrity and seems to be more coming.
We can all only pray we land an impact grad transfer or 2. Kadary and Woody play higher than their rankings. We see some significant leaps from guys like QG, Joe, and Jesse. And maybe we end up on the right side of the bubble next year with hopefully recruiting starting to turn in the right direction. It is a lot of hoping and variables to fall in place, but what else do we really have right now...

I agree with a lot that has been said. I think the coaching has generally been OK. I think they have come a long way since NYC which was rock bottom. The improvements have been in order to stay competitive with mid-tier programs and ones ‘beneath us’ in a down ACC to boot. It’s a credit to the players not giving up (until possibly late in the Miami game) but it also illustrates the shape we are in as a program.
Personally, I don’t think JB is doing much on offense. It’s more/less “you go make a play/shot.” They have some talented shot makers and more green lights than any team in the country by a mile. Though some of those Arizona St guards launch without any conscience or structure as well. He allows them to take terrible shots and hunt their own shots without moving a defense much. Sometimes Marek and Sidibe can make a play these days posting up or Marek driving if he doesn’t lose his balance/foundation due to how weak he is. But, as we are starting to see now, the lack of movement and probably the fatigue is catching up to us. Better athletes are locking up our guys and scoring is getting tougher. Our starting backcourt isn’t good or athletic enough to drive into the defense and kick consistently and we aren’t running enough crisp sets and off ball movement to counter this. When you have a bunch of spot up shooters and 2/3 of them aren’t good athletes with limited ability in the post, it’s going to catch up to you because (besides talent) I think JB has run the starting backcourt into the ground. Just like he did with Ennis/Cooney and other scenarios. This is part of coaching. JB has a comfort zone and he won’t budge. With the way UVA has turned it around I now believe Bennett could do better with our group. Not a lot better but he’s a genius. They will be an 8/9 seed and a frightening matchup for a 1 seed.
